Italy's out of subs in the 55th minute...and for Thiago Motta? Prandelli's lost it.

You nailed it, when I saw the substitution I said "We have lost."

Also Chiellini has been like a disease. We would have lost anyway, but Prandelli did a pretty poor managment for this final. We had a couple of better players in a better condition, like Nocerino.

Poor Pirlo.

Congratulations to Spain but then a 11 man Spain vs any 10 man team is going to be hard to stop. Italy were just unlucky on the night.

Hmm, pie.

well done spain, real class and unbelievable 3 in a row, quite incredible

spain and germany are going to really take it to brasil on their home turf,i think, can't wait for the world cup in brasil, just hope we can tumble over the line and get there,i don't want to miss out on this one

I wonder what will happen in the future. Spain is so dominant like no other generation of a national football team has been in history.

Damn Holland invented total football but exported it to Span and Barcelona in the 80's and now it's transformed into tiki-taka in the Spanish national team and all of a sudden they're invincible. Meanwhile Holland is gone back to England loser style football (or are they trying a poor man's Germany, I don't know). Damn England and Holland, why can't you be good?

What should the other teams do? Try to counter it like Portugal and Italy tried by hard pressing, or by extreme defense that most teams do, or should you just rely on your own style like Germany?`Or should you try to copy tiki-taka? Will we see a top nation try to copy tiki-taka?

In Germany they're saying: Now that we play like the Dutch (attractive football) we lose like the Dutch.

Or so the Dutch tv tells me.

Blame Johann Cryuff for that. He made Barça play that way and then the presidents and coaches have decided to keep that style. And Spain has used the midfield from Barça since quite some time.

The honest answer is that they should play what they know.

Since the basics of Spain are the players of Barça, it makes sense to play like they are used to. What the other national teams should do is the same, play as most of their players they are used to.

And the "tiki-taka" is not easy, it took Barça 30 years to master, do you think a national team can do it?

Unlucky? 11vs10? Pathetic.  Motta has injured at minute 61.  Min 0-Min61=Spain 2-0 Italy.

I think Prandelli didn't look into the team's physical aspect as he should have. Chiellini was already showing some signs that he was close to an injury back on the game against Germany and some players were pretty tired.

Still, his management of the subs was pretty damn bad. Doing the last sub when there was still 35 minutes to play, against a team that's known to tire out their opposition by making them run for the ball, especially when they're in front of the scoreline, it's almost a suicidal call.

@Naninho - Personally, my favourite portuguese player in the 90 minutes was Moutinho, mostly because he bossed the midfield and he was one of the prime reasons Xavi and Iniesta didn't do much (though Pepe was a pretty close second to me). And I agree, once Xavi was subbed, Spain found much more depth in the field, because our midfield was pretty tired and Bento was too stubborn to sub them out (even when we had two subs to make) to keep the pace. Without Veloso and Meireles to help Moutinho, and Nani completely oblivious when he had to accompany Jordi Alba's runs on the right wing, we ended up opening massive spaces on that part of the field.
