Sony brought Blu Ray to game consoles, how is that not innovation?

Because its a completely natural step forward?

And yet no one else did it.

The "costs $800 to manufacture at launch" PS3 probably had something to do with that.

Your right im sure Nintendo wont push for online gaming, achievements and cinematic gaming.

And BTW most of the 3rd party games announced for the Will U yea we already played them and we're gonna have the new ones too.

Nintendo is awesome in that they make it easy for haters to take the piss.

Whether that is their intention, is another matter.

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

Richard why even bother trying to shed perfectly good light on Nintendo on this site? Everyone knows you cannot come on here and applaud Nintendo for their innovations and walk away unharmed.

I mean really....Nintendo haters are already trying to say Nintendo's new controller is somehow copying Microsoft. When every other person knows that design was stolen from PC controllers years ago, with added features that Nintendo had years before that.

And are people really trying to say Apple has the first concept of the tablet?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynabook

But you are right. Nintendo simply comes up with the ideas, time after time. And it's all gimmicks until the other two copy one way or the other.

Do you seriously think that SmartGlass would of been introduced if Nintendo didn't go second screen with the WiiU?

The reality is WIiU caused Microsoft and Sony to also add a second screen interface to their systems.

Yes, because Smart Glass has nothing to do with Wii U and everything to do with AirPlay. I don't even know why you'd even bring up the fact that Sony lets you use a Vita to play LBP2. Merely mentioning it expends more energy than Sony spent in the concept and implementation of such a lazy idea (although one that I'm sure all 10 Vita owners will enjoy).

Do you seriously think that the great innovator Nintendo would have given their console a tablet controller if the iPad weren't setting the world on fire?

The iPad did not release until 4/2010.

Nintendo was thinking about Wii U's tablet concept in 2008. Try again.

Apple was thinking about it in 2006. Why is this easily brushed away while Sony thinking about Move almost ten years ago is not valid! Sony the copiez, Nintendo the innovatez

Ok, I've heard a lot of bitching today. Sony copies what everyone is doing and improves it by a slight degree. They have been doing that for 15 years. There is absolutely no room for debate in that.

Now, Nintendo. Putting a tablet and APPLYING IT TO A VIDEOGAME console could be considered the innovation here; mainly because it has never been done before. But, before I confuse myself, lets define 'innovation'.

'Innovation differs from invention in that innovation refers to the use of better and , as a result, novel idea or method, whereas invention refers more directly to the creation of the idea or method itself.'

With that in mind, I guess Sony neither invented nor innovated. Maybe it is better to say Nintendo invented motion control with Wii, and invented tablet function in a console. Sony thought about Move and did not act on it for 10 years until Nintendo grew a pair of balls and risked it all first by having motion as the premier incentive for their console.

"Innovation is NOT R&D.  It doesn't consist of having the largest research budget and betting on everything.  It isn't either that you do what is out there currently, "bigger, badder, and better".  What it consists of is beating others to the market with new changes and features that others aren't coming up with..."

"You may doubt me, but answer me this: Exactly WHAT are Microsoft and Sony bringing to the table now that is new, and different that changes the game the way Nintendo has been doing since the Wii?  Microsoft brought Achievements.  Sony brought what, Home?"

What exactly did nintendo beat others to the market with on the wii?

Released in 2004:

And all the motion controlled dance, fitness, sports mini games etc.had already been done on ps2:

Leadership and innovation my ass.

That first link is a bit of a serious stretch for what you are trying to prove here.

The second link involves motion...but not with remote. The DS being an advanced 1980 Game & Watch, that make sense! The 2nd vid in relation to Wii...not really.

None of those things went mainstream as far as I know. If they did, they didn't last long. 3DS could technically be called a suped-up Virtual Boy, but why acknowledge it copying a certain product if the one it was copied from failed? The cherry pick is impressive but uh, I can't really concede here.

yeah your reply doesn't really surprise me as somehow things are always twisted so nintendo is the only company that makes things, regardless all i'll say is that these kind of statements

"Nintendo invented motion control with Wii, and invented tablet function in a console."

are obviously bogus
