At the Ubisoft press event they show 3 player Rayman Legends local co-op for the Wii-u and said the version is supposed to feature 5 player co-op how if the Wii-u can support only 2 controllers?

It supports two tablet controllers.

Magically, those aren't the only kind of controller compatible with the system.

4 wii remote controls and 2 tablets. make it six!

Either 4 Pros and a Upad or
4 Wii Controllers and a Upad or
any combination of the two.

And it doesn't seem right now that there are any games that are being made for two Upads, and that may be a good thing. Because there is really little need for it.
