So far this seems to have been a giant waste of money on everyone's part. The Repubs seem to be getting a clear sweep with five of the elections already called in their favor

Good. The Dems and their union masters dumped a ton of money into this election, and now that Wisc has gone for the same Republican twice in just 2 years, it leaves them with a ton of egg on their face headed into the November elections.

technically, the republicans spent quite a bit more.  Personally, I'm glad Walker won.  If people don't like the job a governor is doing, they can vote him out when his term is over.  Recalls are meant to be a way to get rid of corrupt or incredibly incompetent politicians and should not be used because of a disagrement on the issues.  This is an example of politics run amok, and hopefully this victory will help keep this crap from happening again.  

+1 for your post.  As for the spending, well the Repubs were kind of forced to after the recall effort was spearheaded by the progressives and big labor.  Sadly one of the only ways to beat them is to outspend them at their own game.

with a $3.6 billion deficit turned into a budget surplus in 1 1/2 years, and with unemployement at 6.7% and going down. how could you not like this guy.
not to mention he passed voter ID, and actually let people choose if they want to be in the union or not, they used to be forced in it.

He has done some good things for his state, for sure, but he is also incredibly polarizing.  I don't think any politician can be effective if he or she drives people to extremes of like/dislike.  Good politicians build bridges, they don't burn them down.  That being said, I'm glad he won.  The recall was a joke and should have never happened.  I don't agree with the taking away of collective bargaining for everything but pay (I am a school teacher,) but I fully support the option of opting out of the union.  Nobody should be forced to join an organization against their will.  

It actually amazed me how upset the unions got over what Scott Walker did.  I live in Utah and we have pretty much the same set up here as what he implemented, it isn't that big of a deal and that is coming from a teacher.  

It is really no mystery here in regards to the union unrest. If people are not forced to join the union and pay union dues then a significant amount of public employees will choose not too (only the real diehards that are actually convinced the unions are helping anyone but themselves will keep paying, and even they will give up when they realize that they could use that money to line their own pockets and not some union boss's).

These unions had a very sweet scam set up for the longest time in Wisconsin, and Scott Walker rattled their cages to say the least by letting people choose not to join and pay ... he also clamped down on the other shady operations they had going with collective bargaining and their one provider of health insurance which was union controlled.

With the failure of this recall I think the unions need to finally accept that they had a good scam while it lasted, and this the end of the line for them. It doesn't matter wher you stand idealogically, what Scott Walker has done is just a small taste of the deep cuts that will be necessary to keep this country going at least for a little while longer.

Austrian economists have warned us about the perils of radical government spending for decades. Unfortunately, there are many people who are now  dependent (just as was intended) on the current system which is why we saw such a backlash to the rather trivial reforms that Scott Walker created.

Looks like the Dems got one of the senate seats. Meaning the Repubs lost the senate. Oh well. Can't win them all

They all spent a lot of money because a lot of people saw this as a big momentum builder.

If the Dems, could win here it'd be a pretty dangerous blow to the Republicans.

You know what probably totally wouldn't be legal but would be great?

If someone used their campaign finance money to do something helpful.

"Your State deficit paid off for by liberty Super Pac, don't vote for democrats, they'll bring it back!"

Probably would be considered bribery.
