Forums - Nintendo - CNN: "Will Nintendo's forthcoming Wii U controller breathe new life into its aging Wii console?"

This is why the mainstream media just shouldn't write about video games.

The tablet gaming + TV gaming at the same time is a bad idea, because you need to watch the tv and the tablet in order to interact in an efficient way with the game; and would be a pain in the a$$ to look to the tablet, and then look to the TV, the tablet, TV, tablet-TV-tablet-TV-tablet-TV-tablet-TV-tablet-TV-tablet-TV over and over again in order to avoid getting killed while watching the other screen.

I bet this will be a major complain when the console releases. I bet most people will play only with the tablet, because that is the only way you can play without having to watch 2 screens at the same time.

Simular complaints where made about the DS. A game that is designed well will not suffer for that. And most of the good games that have are WiiU are asyncronous in multiplayer meaning that player only needs to be looking at the Pad if you are on the Upad or the TV if you are on another controller. And for other games inventory manipulation will not be that much of a problem. (It will be really simular to inventory management for MMO's from the looks of it you just have to be on your toes.

The only DS game that required you to look at both screen was The World Ends with You, and that was a great game. Though most of the time I was just hitting random buttons to control the fight on the top screen so I could concentrate on the bottom screen. (And that would be a great game for the WiiU.)

The DS/3DS screens are actually very close.  It is a big screen that is foldable.   You can see both screens without moving your eyes and head, making a simultaneos view for both screens (or at least you can the other screen with yout peripherical view)

The problem with the WiiU is that you will be looking front (TV), down (Tablet) over and over again, so that you dont gent killed in a game; and that will be a major problem.  Because like in Zombi U you will be bussy checking the inventory, and while doing so you will be eaten by a zombie. RE LOL

Did you look at the keyboard a lot when typing on a keyboard? An inventory screen is static so switching weasons can be done buy memory. And in the demo that was showen there was a "pause" screen when you through you invetory. ("Please Look at the WiiU controller") Things can be designed well that you don't need to be looking at both screens at once.

This is Nintendo's fault. This is the second year that they were intentionally vague on the WiiU, which by the way is a stupid and misleading name. If CNN made the mistake just think how many confused consumer there are. Nintendo better make some informative TV and print ads that explain the WiiU is not a new controller for the Wii or people are going to be pissed when they buy a WiiU Gamepad for their kid's Wii on Christmas.

Nintendo should have changed the name and gotten away from the Wii brand. Anything would have been better. Hell U by itself would be better. Either that or just calling it Wii 2 would have solved the problem. Everyone knows if you add a two to the end it's a new thing.

CNN may be stupid, but so are Nintendo's brand managers.

"This is not Wii, this is Wii U"

They have had articles in a number of British papers without the mistake, clearly stating that it is a new CONSOLE :S CNN Fail. Only a moron would fail to see that it was a new machine. Doesn't mean it doesn't matter.
