Forums - Nintendo - CNN: "Will Nintendo's forthcoming Wii U controller breathe new life into its aging Wii console?"

This is a demonstration of Nintendo's failure, not CNN's.

Nintendo aren't marketing Wii U as a new experience but rather as "what the Wii should have been to begin with" in their opinion. Up to now the console reeks of smelling like nothing more than a reactionary move to the industry ignoring Wii.

And like I already said in multiple threads, every single first party game shown could easily be mistaken for a Wii game, both in terms of style and presentation, as well as in terms of offering new ideas.

Getting the demographic this CNN article represents to invest in new hardware is going to be a very difficult battle for Nintendo to win. If they can do it, it could come with a price that will make the "bitter lesson" of the 3DS taste like candy covered rainbows in comparison.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Oh wow, this definitely is not a good start for Nintendo.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

This has been my biggest issue with Nintendo the last 2 generations. They release a new accessory, but to get it to work you need to also purchase basically a last generation console to get it to work.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

You know during the press conference, with the exception of slip up at the beginning of the press conference, they have been stating that this is a new console. They couldn't be more clear. This is just bad journalism at work. They are suppose to fact check which obviously they have not done.

This is what it says now

(CNN) -- Will Nintendo's forthcoming Wii U breathe new life into its aging Wii concept?

Hard to say at this point, but the Wii U is a solid device that will bring a fresh element to Nintendo gaming.

Changed a few words.

the fact that this was the authors original impression is far more important than whether or not he got the details correct in this case. Nobody reads CNN to learn about video games, but a lot can be learned about their perception by the general public from reading CNN.

This isn't funny, Nintendo need to address this fast, they should of seen this coming, they focused to much on the control and made the wiiu look like a wii laid down horizontally which in the uk they released a wii that does not stand up and lays horizontal, people are going to be confused

For what its worth, a copy editor changed the story on the writer -- at least that is what he said over-and-over on his Twitter account last night.

There are dumb people out there in smart jobs -- A lot of people don't realize that West Virginia is a separate state. So unless you completely removed the name "Wii", there would be confusion.

By the way, in some of the accounts on this last night, I read the same thing happened in an early story about the Xbox 360. If that is the case, then it is the receiver of the information, not the distributor. (However, since this is Nintendo, it has to be always their fault.)

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Wow. Possibly the biggest news organization in the USA and they can't bother to do the slightest bit of research on an article.

The tablet gaming + TV gaming at the same time is a bad idea, because you need to watch the tv and the tablet in order to interact in an efficient way with the game; and would be a pain in the a$$ to look to the tablet, and then look to the TV, the tablet, TV, tablet-TV-tablet-TV-tablet-TV-tablet-TV-tablet-TV-tablet-TV over and over again in order to avoid getting killed while watching the other screen.

I bet this will be a major complain when the console releases. I bet most people will play only with the tablet, because that is the only way you can play without having to watch 2 screens at the same time.
