Forums - Nintendo - Baroque on Wii. Should I get excited?

The Wii actually has more announced JRPGs than either the 360 or PS3.  Quite a lot more in fact.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and the Promised Land
Fragile
Tales of Symphonia:KoR
Baroque
Oboro Muramasa Youtouden
Shiiren the Wanderer 3
Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn
Monster Hunter 3
King's Story (part sim game)
Opoona
Sword of Legendia
Dragon Quest Swords

This is understandable, as JRPGs are a niche genre, and never experience stellar sales (even within Japan).  They can really only be made safely (except by big companies) on the Wii.

Wii will do fine in the RPG department. The lack of buttons on Wii controller, won't hurt RPG's like it does in the Fighting Genre.

add me, the more the merrier.

I agree that we will eventaully be fine on the Wii with RPGs. But when is the next one after Baroque being released? I am guessing that we will have something by midyear but in the meantime Atlus might have filled a hole.

@naznatips
I know DQS is coming soon but do you know when we might get some of those other excellent titles?

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

Most of them are promised in 2008, which isn't necessarily saying much, as developer release date promises often don't come true.

I guess I am really anxious to hear more about the Wii released for 2008. I know, and I frankly prefer, that Nintendo's style is to wait until the games are much closer, but still I am also craving new details.

if it's from atlus, it's gotta be good! i loved etrian odyssey.

the Wii is an epidemic.

^^
Not necessarily. Isn't Atlus the publisher and thus depending on the developer the game could be good or bad.

Although I would agree that I tend to like Atlus games I have played/heard about so it has a greater chance of being good.

I think that Atlus has got a good opportunity for growth given that many bigger third parties are wary to compete with Nintendo on the Wii but Atlus doesn't as they are still quite small so the same sales for them on the Wii as other third party would be seen as low for that other third party but as big for them, thus giving them experience with the control. Like they say "a rising tide raises all the ships", execpt for the ships that refuse to sail in these waters of course.

Id be cautious. Wait for reviews/feedback to see if the controls are tacked.

The safest bet would be the PS2 version.

I don't know how much experience with controls they're supposed to get by publishing other people's games.

Also: Soriku, be quiet.

This is the title loop from the Japanese version, it shows gameplay. I have to say I'm a bit interested, especially since I haven't played a dark dungeon crawler in ages. However, the RPGs built from the ground up for the Wii are a lot more enticing to me, ToS-R and FFCCTCB in particular.

Eh? I thought this game had old-fashioned gameplay mechanics. As in all you need is a D-pad or thumbstick to move around and two buttons, one for affirmative and one for negative.
