Forums - PC - New PC, howsit?

I think Andrespetmonkey has the exact same model, anyhow just wanted some "pros" to dish out the opinion on the new rig I got today;

INTEL I7-2600K / 8GB DDR3 / 500GB STORAGE / WINDOWS 7 HP 64BIT, Geforce GTX550Ti, Asus motherboard P8H 61-MLE and Alpine power supply 750w(which fucking blows, literally, apparently)

What can I run? How long is this going to last(in terms of future releases)?

You should have got a stronger graphics card even if that meant a weaker CPU (or, in fact, Ivy Bridge).

Lol yes we do!

I know for sure you can run Crysis on high/720p/4xAA at 45fps

The first thing you're (we're) going to have to upgrade is that GPU, it can play every game on at least medium, most on high but soon it's gotta be changed to keep up. Don't worry, I'm sure dishing out £150 on a new graphics card in 1 or 2 years will be all you need to do for ages.

CPU is a beast, won't have to upgrade for a very long time, ram is great too. It's a great system overall.

720p?!? Pfftt

That's all my moniter goes up to. No AA and 1080p will get decent fps

@NotStan: How is your monitor?

LED 22.5 inches Philips full HD :p

Haven't really played any demanding games yet!

Yeah I know monkey, it'll have to do for now, I mean I spend £80 on a bus pass a month, no hassle haha.

You should have gone for a stronger GPU. I have that one and I regret it; should have gone for the GTX560. I got the GTX560Ti first, but it got too hot for my liking so I opted for the 550Ti. Now I regret it and should have gone for the standard 560.

Anyway, I play my games at 1080p with 4x AA all settings high/max. I get over 30+fps average. Then again I don't have that many games and graphically demanding ones either. The most demanding would be Fallout 3, which I run on ultra at 1080p. I also have Left4Dead 2 and Portal 2 which I easily max out at 1080p.

I have an i3 by the way. You should be fine for most games, except some like Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, Skyrim, and Witcher 2 which will demand a stronger GPU.

Clock Speed/Cores/Memory Interface/Bandwidth

550ti
900/192/192/98.4

560
810/336/256/128

560ti
822/384/256/128

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

There shouldn't be any modern PC games you can't run, you may not be able to max out deamnding games at 1080p 60fps. But on most console ports and less demanding games you should get close, even with that GPU.

With a GPU upgrade some time in the future you will probably be good for 99% of games for the nex 4+ years.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

How much did that cost you? Is it best to buy everything separately for the best deal?

the gpu is the only real week part i see nvidia  gtx460+ or amd6850+ would have been my minimum recommendations,

if you plan on replacing the psu i recommend modular/semi modular so much easier to work with. corsair or seasonic.

other eventual upgrades, pic up an ssd boot times will be insane i recommend either a m4 from crucial or a samsung 830 haveing owned both of them the m4 boots faster, the 830 seems to transfer files faster. any ssd for your boot-app drive will be a noticeable change

outside of that i could see this being used for 7 years or so (though who know what break throughs the future holds )
