How is it compared to retail? The digital market in Germany is huge!

For the US market, retail revenue in Q4 2011 for PS360+Wii+PC+handheld games was in the $3(-4) billion ballpark.
(for the month of Dec software revenue was $2.04 billion)

I knew the used game market here was big, but I didnt think it was THAT big. Wow.

I hope with increased online availability of games (at a knockdown price), Publishers can start to cut into that huge sum.

that's why i once said that i believe uk market isn't as big as some might think because many germans, and i would say other europeans as well (which i don't know) buy their games over the internet in uk for lower prices. and to play it with the original audio track if it is only in german (like for halo) because synchro can be really bad sometimes. this could be a big part of uk retail market. as example i bough like 30 games on zavvi/thehut/play. i don't believe that there are really so much more gamers in uk like it seems if you see the retail charts.

I buy a lot of games used! I am usually very patient and can wait months before I pick up a game. Like I said in another thread, if the game is not a big title it had better either be picked up for cheap new or I will get it used.

I do it the other way around. Buy a popular game new and sell it back within a month. I just got $40 back for Max Payne 3. Traded it in for Sorcery at no extra cost.

521 million of 3-4 billion isn't that big of a threat to publisher's revenues. Take the 2nd hand market away and I would most likely have passed on Max Payne 3.
