I say they should take the Dual Shock 3, remove L2 and R2, then just add a back touch pad that has tactile pixels (or a more advanced version of that) so we can feel in-game surfaces.

this, mostly.  i don't think it will skyrocket vita sales nor do i think many ps3/4 games would use it.   ...but looking at nintendo's E3 it doesn't look like nintendo knows what to do with it anyways.  just give me solid vita integration, maybe steal MS's idea of smartphone/tablet integration (which is a waay better idea imo).  

as far as the dual shock.  same basic design but update it for ergonomics.  hell, release 2 or 3 versions if need be for kids/adults.  the xbox controller form factor is just soo much more comfortable imo.  

What about a small touch panel on the back of the controller, like the one the Vita has? It would open new doors, but not add too much to the cost of the controller.

No! I wouldn't want to keep looking down while I'm playing. I like that I don't have to even think about the controller even being in my hands.

Nope, I don't see it working. Maybe a back touch pad, let's see how that's used on the Vita first though.

But why? What benefit will it bring? It may be aesthetically pleasing, but not when they break and it'll just give it a higher price tag.
