2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.


Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

Amongst other PS3 titles, I have already played both Heavenly Sword and said that they were very good, though not quite great, games. I'm sure that some of the upcoming PS3 games will be brilliant. That isn't the point.

In that case, I agree. The Wii is not going to stop selling until Nintendo discontinues it. I don't understand why people can't accept that we have the next PS2 on our hands, though since the demographics are so split in this generation, it probably won't completely overwhelm the second and third place consoles like the PS2 did.


I agree.  We own a Wii and 360, and feel like the combination of the two is a more than adequate replacement for our aging PS2 (which still gets occasional use in my son's room).

 

I just don't understand the rationale behind the argument that most of the PS2 users are sitting around waiting for the PS3 to drop in price so that they can upgrade to a PS3.  We were PS2 users, but upgraded to a Wii60 combo.  If the vast majority of PS2 users are that price conscious, then having no PS2 BC in the cheapest box is a huge error on Sony's part.

nearly all consoles made have amazing games,the cube which sold very little had so many amazing games

My point exactly. I think that's like saying buying a PS3 will be a hereditary trait. No, most of us are looking at this from all angles. And I have yet to see a PS3 owner say this 'Before you take the plunge, think long and hard about this. You are spending at least $500 for a system - and you better have good reasons for why you are doing it ...

Rocketpig, did you read the contract that MS has with R*? I know I haven't so it's hard for you or I to know what kind of smaller parts were in that contract for the DLC. And yes, MS did pay for the exclusive DLC, but it may have included a bit more in that deal that stated that demos/videos/etc that they released would show only the Xbox 360 version. Could I be wrong? Possibly, but I could also be right, we just don't know.

I'm not saying that it's decietful or wrong for them to do. GTA is a huge series and if they can convince people to buy a 360 instead of a PS3 to play it, it will pay off for MS and would be a smart move. If it backfires, it will hurt a bit.

And I expect both versions to look great and sell very well over the lifetime of the game.

sorry i don't see this hurting wii sales... the Wii biggest audience is hates the GTA franchise(too violant), the core gamers will still get a wii because they get every consoles... Wii may lose a few of those gamers who pick 1 console and stick with it... most of them went for 360 and Halo anyways. I also don't see this selling as many as SA did.

^yeah it wont hurt wii sales,and it will sell less then SA because the userbase will be much smaller
