Forums - Nintendo - IF Nintendo does not impress at E3 this year will Nintendo fail in the West? Change of opinion now?

I don't think E3 is as relevant to Nintendo fans as it is to other consoles. Sony had a bad E3 and soon after they dropped from a distant first down to last place. Nintendo sales do not seem to be effected by E3 mostly because Nintendo has many other options for getting people on board (Christmas advertisement, kiosks, Nintendo events, TV shows, etc...), unlike say Sony who depends much more heavily on E3.

So if Nintendo has a bad E3, it won't be as significant as one of their other factors falling down. If they have a good E3 though, it will be a damaging blow to Sony and Microsoft who might look lame to the gaming-nerd-types (I think it is cute how they think they're hardcore), who all follow E3.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

"over milked franchise spewing machine that is enarmored with releasing another another Mairo and Zelda game."

so is the rest of the industry, at least Nintendo try to do changes to those games. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.

EA SPORTS = every year there is the same game (FIFA, MADDEN, GOLF, NEED FOR SPEED etc..) with MINOR changes. Sounds like a milked franchises to me.

SQUARE = what final fantasy are we up to now? each one only gets worst. Sounds like a milked franchise to me.

ACTIVISION = call of duty games. Since modern warfare nothing much has changed in the franchise. Sounds like a milked franchise to me.

SONY = Gran Turismo, guranteed to be on every Sony platform. Sounds like a milked franchise to me.

MICROSOFT = Halo, another gurantee on each iteration of the xbox. Sounds like a milked franchise to me.

Even when all these franchise get milked to death doesn't mean people don't like the games. A franchise that is milked signifies that there is a big enough audience out there to continue producing the games. Lets face it, no developer will continue making more and more of the same game if each new iteration continues to loose them money.

Sorry but Final Fantasy changes more from an episode to another than Mario or Zelda in their entire history.

Even Call of Duty add more changes than mario games do.

As for Gran Turismo, where is the problem to have one iteration per gen? Do you think people should play Gran Turismo 1 eternally? Even 2 GT per gen (which was the case so far) looks far more resonable than releasing a mario game every 6 months...

@Bolded:

Nintendo could have the best E3 they've ever had, and the Wii U could go on to be a huge success, but if you don't hear them say 'we will be making games on iOS/Android', a selection of their batshit insane stockholders will be pissed regardless.

VGChartz

Personally I doubt they will have a better E3 than 2006 that was a little on the extreme side. I'm expect more on a excellent one since this E3 will have the first playable games. But hey at least this year there will be space for the line.

They will be fine, new hardware always creates a lot of buzz, all they need is a shocker game for the west, something like their own Gears of war/uncharted game (western made) and I think retro will do it.

I wonder what the next big Nintendo innovation will be.

Using your hair to sweep in-game floors which will cause controversy with the bald community.

Food for thought: Shove an apple in your brain

Despite the interest from the gaming media and enthusiasts E3 is not the be all and end all. All companies have had weak performances and lived to tell the tale.

The pressure is on Nintendo to inspire people to want to have a WiiU and E3 is a critical start to that. But if memory serves, most analysts and gamers were still expecting Nintendo to go out of business even after Wii's full reveal at E3 2006.

DO NOT START THIS!

Nintendo has to do something for hardcore fans and for good gaming in general, not to impress, so shut up and have a cookie.

Can someone please tell me the definition of a hardcore gamer or fan? This particular demographic that Nintendo apparently have to appeal to? After reading through I can only assume people feel like they need FPSs on the Nintendo Wii to enjoy it.

The Wii does have it's fair share of 'hardcore' titles in my opinion a fine example being Xenoblade Chronicles which was in my opinion one of if not the best game of this generation.
