I hope to hell that is just for free-to-play games. I could even see an ad-supported version of something like LBP offered for free. It could also be that Sony is just adding to their patent portfolio with no intention of actually using that themselves.

"NO!" you shout.. but it's futile. Right as you enter the turn, pulling your handbrake and feeling your car dig into the corner, the game freezes, and a 7up Commercial flashes across the screen. "Best Soda Evar! Try it!"
You fall to the ground, crying, only to have the game suddenly start back up again during the middle of your turn. Without your hands on the controller and unable to react quickly enough, your car slides out and slams into the wall as 13 other racers zoom past you. Your eyes fill with rage, then tears, and then the sight of your open 8th story window. And without thinking...
you jump.
And then the fucking safety net catches you 2 feet later. And you realize you're naked. And your girlfriend just so happened to be outside and now sees you lying there.
And now you've hit rock bottom. The end!
There are good ideas, and there are bad ideas, but this is neither of those. This is a dangerous idea, because it has a real potential of inciting rage within the customer. You don't cut gamers off mid stream, and you shouldn't even be thinking of such a thing. Not only would it be obnoxious to the player, but they are liable to transfer that anger onto the product that co-opted their play session.
The stupidity is just fucking staggering. Someones internal censor has left the building. It isn't that nobody has had this thought before. They just discarded it, because it is entirely rude. You don't see breaks in movies to sell shit, or see television shows cut out half dialogue. You don't hear advertisements in the middle of songs on the radio. The reason is obvious it antagonizes the audience, and that isn't doing the product or the service any favors.
It isn't even that they had the idea, and jotted the notion down on a scrap of paper. Someone spent a lot of time, and effort crafting this application. No wonder Sony is losing money. The company can't even tell the difference between ideas that have some merit, and ideas that have no merit whatsoever. Where the hell is the oversight that let someone waste precious time.
To hell with it Sony should run with this idea. I am sure it will dovetail nicely with the janitors plan to reuse toilet paper. After all one side is still good right, and the restroom has sinks for a reason. Wait a minute who needs sinks your right there next to a now clean bowl of water, or it will be once you wash your hands with the bar or soap that is now next to the seat. Sony is obviously brimming with good ideas.
