Forums - Gaming Discussion - Leaked Bungie contract basically confirms Fall 2013 Xbox 720 release

http://documents.latimes.com/bungie-activision-contract/

Here's a SUMMARY if you dont' want to read the document.

Bungie has a contract with Activison to make 4 games, and 4 expansions(1 for each game).
Release will start in Fall 2013, with an expansion following in Fall 2014. Second game coming Fall 2015, with expansion in Fall 2016...etc...

The games are code-named "Destiny", and the expansions are code-named "Comet". This new Bungie IP is designed to help the transition into next-gen, which is why we're definitely getting Destiny #1 and #2 on 360,

Destiny #1 is being made for Xbox 360 and XBox 720(Fall 2013), a PS3 version will be considered if it is financially viable for release in Fall 2014.(1 year after the 360 and 720 versions.)

Destiny #2 will be made for XBox 360, 720 and PS4 and PC.(Fall 2015)

Destiny #3 will be for PS4 and 720 and PC.(2017)

Destiny #4 will be for Ps4 and 720 and PC.(2019)

Why alienate a section of the market by releasing only on the 360/720 for the first game? Hasn't seemed to have worked out too well with other IP's this gen.

First game will be 360/720 exclusive, they may release PS3 port in 2014 but its not confirmed.

"Activision can terminate the contract without penalty if Destiny doesn't sell at least 5 million units in the first six months, or for any reason they please after the second expansion pack releases."

5 million in 6 months sold not shipped. Unless it can take of like Gears then sure otherwise doesnt look like it happning.

I cant seem to understand why developers and companies tend to release the first game exclusive on a certain system but than they release the sequels on all playable platforms.

(i.e. Mass Effect and Dead Rising).

Completely agree. Not like microsoft would be publishing it in the case of Mass Effect. I think it would be multiplatform. Activision loves green.

MS probably made a sweet deal for one year exclusivity.

$$$$$

Ignoring all the "OMG MS exclusivity!" arguments which are totally unobstantiated, as these contracts were done in 2010 at which time Bungie did not have any PS3 specialists so they could not have garantueed pushing a PS3 version out at the same time as a Xbox one.

I'd definitely like to play the next Bungie game on the Next-Box.

Except for Wii U.

Nothing will change next gen. looks like some 3rd party already ignoring Wii U.

yea funny that there's no wii u info seeing as its the closest next gen console with the most known about its specs and what not, but ps4 and 720 are there.

Fake.

There is no way a real contract would refer to MS's next console as '720' when its not called that. If anything it would be using the code name durango or literally "360 successor".

This is obviously a fake document.
