COD3 sold more than the PS3 version, then COD4 wasn't released simultaneously with the HD versions, so the audience moved. It wasn't until years later that they started making ports, and we all know what happens to late releases. The things the Wii audience has had to put up, not even knowing if the next version was going to be released, etc. No wonder they jumped ship.

oh please they missed ONE year, one. Lets not be so dramatic. THere was ONE late released game, all others have released the same time as the HD versions. I say they also jumped ship because COD3 for Wii sucked hard, much harder than the PS3 version, so i would say that is a factor why they ran.

That one game that it missed happened to be THE game that propelled COD from moderate success to superstardom. Had the Wii gotten MW1 at the same time as the others, it and all the following Wii COD games would have sold far more.

As it is, their sales still turned a profit and almost all cleared the million mark despite the Wii missing the formation of the current fanbase.

maybe, maybe not, unless we have access to another alternate dimension we can never be too sure.  Id say that MW2 was the game to propel it to superstardom but that never even came out so ill concede that point, I just dont believe it would have made that much of a difference IMHO. We are talking about gaps of 10mil plus. I seriously doubt that the Wii version would have done as well even if the games released regularly. Better, but not close. There are also other factors, Wii version not looking as crisp, no DL, later updates, generally runs worse, etc. Its not just COD look at any game thats not a dance, exercise or family friendly title and the HD version always trounces, its been like that all gen

I agree it still would no have matched the PS360 version for sales, but it would have sold much more than it has. Missing MW2 was a blow as well, yes.

The PS360 offer a bigger market for "mature" games (I mean that in the sense of them having violence, sex, etc) that's no secret. But that doesn't mean there isn't a market for such games on the Wii, as games like COD3/W@W/MW1/BO, Goldeneye 007, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles and House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return can attest. Goldeneye and House of the Dead Overkill also sold better on the Wii.

thats not really fair though, GE had a year headstart on WIi, id bet both of my testicles that had it been released day and date as the Wii version, Wii version would have gotten trounced as usual. Plus Activision was charging 60 damn dollars for it, it cost more than it did a year ago than even when Wii version was first out. Im shocked it sold that well on HDs. HOD Overkill was damn near 2 years late. I see your point but come on man those are bad comparisons

I thought the comparison was rather fitting as MW1 had a similar 2 year delay on Wii.

i never compared that one COD game to the other HDs, never. I compared all the ones that were released day and date together. COD3, WAW, BLOPS, MW3

CO3 sold better on Wii than PS3, and all the other Wii CODs were impacted by the fact that the Wii missed the franchise's explosion with MW1.

@curl-6 sure COD3 sold better on Wii than PS3, but it still didnt beat out 360 version, so it still was beaten out by the HD version of the game, I never specified which one. But thats neither here nor there. as I agreed that MW1 not coming out the same time and totally missing MW2 did hurt. It would have done better, how much better?? We will never know. But it was never going to reach HD levels anyway. WHat about your Prince of Persias, Spidermans and SW Force Unleashes of the world?? Whats their excuse why did the Wii version of the game do so bad vs HD?? Hell in SW case the Wii version was trouncing PS3 one, then all of a sudden it passed it and WIi fans got real quiet not even get into the sequel which PS3 version actually sold the best for some reason
