He brought finger tapping to the masses, and basically defined an entire decade of music with his insane guitar attacks. Still to this day he makes sounds on the guitar that you would never expect.

Also, he and Michael Jackson teamed up on quite possibly the most epic song ever written/played/fornicated to in the history of the multiverse. During the late 70's and early 80's 6 separate alien invasions were halted out of fear of faces being melted.

Probably Michael Weikath of Helloween because he is a great song writer and doesn't just noodle for the sake of noodling. But for more masturbatory shredding, nobody tops Yngwie in my book.

Eddie Van Halen and Jimmy Page are my favourites. Hendrix is overrated.

For me, it's not about technical skill. A lot of it is about heart. For me, a lot of country artists take the biscuit.
