from the top of my head FF and NFS. NFS was really good but none of the games this gen are good even the highly rated HP with nothing to do in free roam after you beat its non story campaign the game became pointless
COD is a good franchise imo
some of the stuff listed here is laughable same engine? at least its a pretty realistic artstyle and most games series this gen also run on the same core engine, 5hr campaign try playing on vet, and at its all action packed unlike other games where your platforming linearly and walking in sand. very low replayability in campaigns like that with those cinematic events and easy AI. for those that are uneducated bout COD after MW there are other modes besides the campaign and online (which yes i believe MP is a bit overrated and cheap) like zombies, spec ops and survival. these modes especially survival can offer endless hours of fun and replayability and can be played solo, local MP, and online MP options that are not existent in the majority of the games that most of ya'll believe are innovated.
yearly releases can be scraped as well as COD made by treyarch and Sledghammer are becoming more different by every release for example ie. zombies only in treyarch CODs, treyarch CODs have more story and character driven campaigns also treyarchs latest is set in future

Play Me
I can't say there's a particular series I'd like to see die... but I'd like the zombie trend to stop. Preferably right now.

Hahaha, that was rather brilliant
The problem is sales. No company is going to stop making sequels unless they perform below expectations/no longer show a profit. The consumers are the problem as a majority of the time they don't accept new IPS. Obviously there are exceptions (Uncharted, Gears of War, Assassins Creed) but for every big success there are multiple failures.
Anyways, for me?
#1 Call Of Duty Series
#2 Halo Series (Love Halo but it needs to take a few years off. MS won't allow it however.)
#3 Any yearly sports game (Madden, Fifa, NHL, etc.)
#4 Need For Speed
#5 The Warriors Series (Samurai, Dynasty)
#6 Silent Hill (The news just seem to be getting worst and worst. Series needs a rest.)
#7 Basically any game that gets yearly renditions.
I'm giving Assassins Creed a new chance with the new setting, but I have a feeling it will be on this list next year.
It's just that simple.
I agree with CoD. For the reasons already stated in this thread.
Atm I can only think of CoD.
Maybe "dancing" "games"...
| SunofKratos said: Hello vg charts members. This is a question i want to ask you. Please give a little explanation why you think Series XYZ need to decline. Heres my list. 1. The Call of Duty , modern warfare Series: The reason is simply. This series destroys gaming. It destroys every innovation in gaming simply because other gaming titles will not have a chance to sell well or sell as much as they deserves because gamers trending to buy the same game series over and over again insteat of trying something new. Also a 5 hour long single player campagne with the same game egine again and again is not worth the 60 dollars. 2. Mario Kart. Yeah Mario Kart is a great game but is it as good that it deserve over 20 million of sales. I think not. Let other fun racers have some market. I really hope that Sonic All Stars Racing 2 and Little big Planet Karting steal some thunder from future mario kart titles. 3. Super Mario games. The same here. mario games stand for quality thats true. And Mario games also show that the jump and run genre isnt dead. But there are also some very great 2D and 3D jump and runs that deserve more marklet share and more buzz. ( Rayman origins, Little Big Planet for an example) 4. Medal of Honor. This series will very likely go the same path as Call of Duty. If its get nearly as big as Call of Duty than we will have the yearly shit again and again. 5. Crappy casual sport games. I think its obvious why. No need for an explanation.

So, you think that the Mario series should decline because it has so many sales, or that it has more market than you think it deserves? "Let other fun racers have some market"? That's analogous to "Give the ball to the other team because they are losing".
I thought the video game industry was about competition? If a game or game series has the playing field, developers just need to try a different method to win their target audience, not wish declination on it...
I don't quite understand how a game should not deserve the sales it gets. If the developers identify an audience, and they were successful in appealing to that audience, I don't see why they shouldn't deserve sales. Even Call of Duty and every manner of zombie shooter in existence, which I have a distaste for, I think deserves their sales; they won them, even if their methods are tired, but that apparently that hasn't stopped the market.

| DieAppleDie said: Sir, you have no right to say that Mario kart does not deserve those sales, you have no argument against it other than your obvious bias. |
I have the right to say this because its my honest opinion. I also think that no game ( even my lovely God of War and uncharted ) deserve over 20 m of sales.
And if i would have a bias againts nintendo or mario than i would bash in every thread which is nintendo relatet but since i have been on vg charts i havent done this so i can truly say that i dont have any bias against any company.
PS: Totally agree to World of Warcraft.

Well i think you take this thread to serious. Its wishfull thinking, nothing more. It would be the same if i ask you guys which gaming series needs to sell better or deserve more sales.
There is no reason to get angry guys.
