I guess I would say any game that doesn't have anyone that enjoys it should probably die off....so none of them!

Thats like saying Racing, Fighting, Platforming, RPG etc genres should die too. Not all FPS games are the same ;) . |
Is it really? Because i can see gameplay differences in racers, platformers etc that make them different.Say for example on racing games you have simulation racers and arcade racers, its also a limiting genre but less limiting than the FPS one. I gues the 3rd person shooter genre is quite bland aswell but its newer. platformers, RPG, etc vary a lot more and more easily to tinker with to have completely different gameplay feels.
There are the rare cases like Fallout that arent really FPS, but more RPG´s wich are good, but the whole general FPS genre of games like COD, Battlefield, sniper elite, syndicate, homefront, wolfenstein, etc. They all play the same. Its exatly the same game with a different face. They might aswell be expansions of each other.
When I saw the title of the thread, I've immediately said to myself "going to stumble in upon "WE HATE COD"" fan group any minute now I click the link. Thank you for not disappointing.
Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

how many remakes have they made? because i dont think they have, it also didnt peak at ff7, ff8 and x were quality games in the series the only part of your statement i agree with is that recent games have been real bad 13, 13-2 etc

I got bored of FPS' when i played my first 2 back on the PC (and they are pretty bad to play on controllers aswell). I would like to see the rise of the MMORPG genre on consoles though. I believe that the tablet controller and hard drive on the WiiU gives it the perfect handling support for such games. |
So just because you don´t like something it should die? I would rather see this damn MMORPGs die these games are shit. They play like shit and look like shit. I am not a FPS fan but there are some pretty good First Person Shooters. You should try Bioshock and then you mind consider your statement.
I vote: Call of Doodey
Why: Call of Doodey, or better yet, Call of CRAP, is such a turd fest. It's like playing with a bunch of speed-induced super soldiers on crack. It's casual & accessible. This means it's bad. There is nothing quality about this series. AT. ALL. Lets be honest here: The only reason it gets such high reviews is because Activision bribes reviewers. We, as a gaming nation, need to stand up and boycott Fail of Doodey to improve the industree! blah blah blah blah CoD = OcD blah blah blah *fart sound*
Call of Duty doesn't need to decline in sales. It actually helps promote the industry as whole and helps other series sell because of this. Yeah, there are a lot of devs that feel the need to copy CoD. But that's a problem with the integrity of developers, not CoD itself.
1. Mario - But that would leave Nintendo with just Zelda and Metroid since they don't make new IPs anymore, they just keep making sequels and remakes. Don't get me wrong, Mario is fun, but all I'm really trying to do here is stress that Nintendo needs new IP's, not just more Mario games. Mario is good every 3-4 years, and in that gap there should be new IPs.
2. Battlefield - It's crap, even worse than CoD. The only reason CoD gets more hate is because it's more popular. EA is just as "evil" and moneyhatting as Activision.
3. Call of Duty - Mainly just ones made by IW since they just put a bunch of cheap nooby gimmicks in their game and don't even support/update the game when problems come to light. At least Treyarch tries to make the game take some amount of skill and does updates. I hope Black Ops 2 does amazing, but the next IW game flops.
4. All yearly sports games - Do they honestly need to be yearly? I'd rather see a new full game like every 3 years or so on a new/updated engine, but every 6-12 months there could be a $15-20 update that contains a roster update, a couple new game modes, etc. to keep the game fresh and keep people playing it, and it would make the company good money for very little work.
5. Medal of Honor - Do I even need to explain this one? The one thing I want to say though is it's HILARIOUS how Battlefield fanboys say DICE is amazing and defend them to the death, but don't realize DICE did the multiplayer for Medal of Honor...and nobody tries to defend this game or call it good. Funny eh?
6. Assassin's Creed - Now there's nothing at all wrong with this series, they're good games. But they need to stop with the yearly releases...this is a series that should be every 2-3 years tops to make sure it's high quality.

So you can see the difference between arcade/sim racers but can't tell the difference between Halo and Call of Duty, for example? Hell there are even big gameplay differences between even more similar games like Call of Duty and Battlefield. CoD is a run and gun, quick reaction type shooter where a highly skilled individual can single-handedly go off on his own and win the game for his team...whereas Battlefield is slower paced with more camping and requires teamwork and planning to win a game, you can't just go run off ahead and win the game for your team unless you're like the best player ever.
Just because you hate FPS doesn't mean you can just claim they're all the same and are bland.

Yeah that's why I don't play the Infinity Ward ones anymore, just the Treyarch version. IW just puts in gimmicks like deathstreaks, support killstreaks, etc. so the noobs who are complete shit can do a bit better and piss off the good players.
*Place popular game title here.* *Place comment about not liking the game here* *Place asinine reason why it hurts gaming even though it doesn't here* *Don't type but feel smug about how you're different since you don't like the game and people that like it are sheep* *Realize but don't type that after posting everyone is posting the same crap as you, fall in line, let the farmer shave you* *Plug ears and yell lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala until you feel smug again.*
