Forums - Gaming - So I heard you wanted another reason to hate EA...

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-57426155-93/eas-rock-band-for-ios-no-longer-playable-after-may-31/

For anyone who's bought, or is going to buy their Rock Band iOS game, the game will simply become unplayable after May 31. It's not that they won't update or support online play, the game will simply become unplayable. To top it off, the description page of the game hasn't been updated to reflect this, so unsuspecting buyers will get slapped in the face after they throw down $4.99 on the game.

I'm normally the one who tries to calm down the EA haters in threads, but this even has me tilting my head in confusion. Can they legally do this?

People who buy iOS games are killing real games and deserve what they get. Go, EA!

... Sorry, but if you're willing to buy a rock band game on a iOS device, you deserve to be conned... as for the legality of this... I don't think so, if you bought it you bought it so they might get some trouble from that.

Well you have some truth on those words... lol - Now.. OMG $4.99 i'm gonna die! it's so much money! i gave all of my money to that game!.. .really? i mean, yeah it's horrible that they do these kind of things and surely deserve PUNISHMENT, BLOOD SHALL BE SPILLED! but c'mon.

You have to absolutely be fucking kidding me. How can they get away with this and yet not have a ruined reputation?

It's about the principle of the manner, not the platform/price/game it was done for. What if I bought Dead Space digitally from EA and they decided one day to just make all copies unusable? Everyone with a physical disc will be able to keep playing theirs, but mine will cease to exist.

I understand them pulling online support and stopping updates, but to literally destroy the game from the user's library so they can no longer play offline/single player or anything?

That's a really dick move.

I want to know what EA have to say about this.

"Thanks for rocking out with us!"

HAHA.
WELL GEE THANKS EA!

oh the shallow gamer mindset , "mobile gaming wahwahwah"

I could say the same thing about Console gaming, there is no point of it nowadays, if its riddled with mandatory patches, overpriced DLCs and game prices, INSANE downloadable game prices , endless online problems, crappy optimization (i honestly can't remember the last time consoles used to have steady frame rates) and "Me too!" PC-like games. oh and how its IGNORING the "pick up and Play" games that consoles are MADE for also Party games (Ala Split Screen ... not Online multiplayer).

its not console gaming or mobile gaming that is killing gaming, its whiny smart asses like you that are killing gaming, i bet you enjoy how unoriginal games are nowadays, because you hate change.

Awww, now now, no reason to get upset and be a complainer because I don't like mobile gaming.

You'll just have to learn to forgive me if I prefer looking at a big ass HDTV instead of a tiny screen without proper input methods.
