Actually, they have asked for that too, however, I have been pushing back on that as the game itself looks meh. At least Pokemon is a good IP and that one I would cave in and buy for them.

Because you would also play it?

It's okay... you can say it.

Well considering that Nintendo has repeated ad nauseum that Pokemon RPG's are only a good fit for handhelds, I'd say this is extremely unlikely to ever happen.

I suggest you start going back and reviewing interviews. It is actually Game freak that is so dead against bringing Pokemon to home consoles. Nintendo did not create Pokemon Company get Genus Sonority together and invest millions to billions on home platforms because they don't believe Pokemon would be good on home consoles. Fact is Game Freak and Nintendo have to work together, Nintendo doesn't have free range control over the Pokemon IP, Game Freak has a ton of pull. Game Freak can effectively call the shots they are given almost complete control over the game itself.

Do you honestly believe that Pokemon would be releasing on DS so late in the life cycle and with 3DS on the market if Nintendo was in complete control? It makes absolutely no business sense. Nintendo gives its developers a ton of freedom but they still order new products. The company is brilliant and their is no way that they wouldn't see the potential or take advantage of their home console market. This is solely a Game Freak issue. Nintendo as a publisher gives developers soo much freedom, they focus on Japan and not give enough control to Reggie and NOA heads. The companies strengths can also be weaknesses.

I could easily see a sequel to Pokemon XD coming out on WiiU with figures and awesome uses of the tablet for selecting attacks.

PS to my knowledge the figure wouldn't necessarily have to remain on the tablet while you play. So you simply place your figure on the tab for a second letting it load. Pull it off and begin selecting attacks. I could see Tue TCG game getting used too, swipe a potion card across the screen giving your Pokemon a potion to heal him. Nintendo could use the WiiU to sell toys, cards and with 3DS promote its movies scanning QR codes on the back of the Bluray or DVD. I'm pretty sure Sea's announcement that Sonic merchandise is going to be a huge part of their business model. The publishers and developers see the potential in the technology!

I don't know why you're lecturing me about things I'm already aware of.  When I say 'Nintendo', I am referring to any studio under their umbrella, whether it be first or second-party, and that includes Game Freak.

Yeah, it isn't as deep as Pokémon. it's actually kinda fun but ridiculously easy. I have it for PS3 and 3DS, and the 3DS version is half the game over the console versions, plus the Portal of Power is connected via the IR port. It's hell.

But, being who I am, I'm thinking of buying it for Wii and Xbox360 just to complete the whole thing. Each Skylanders is usable within all the platforms.

What if it goes like that:

Buy RED edition and BLUE edition to get all pokemon
(well to be honest 2 versions on a home console are unlikely but still that could be an option maybe it will go like buy 3ds version and WiiU version in the future)
OR
Trade with friends/strangers online to get all pokemon.
OR
buy 1 version and toys to get all pokemon.

So there is no need for the toys but in case people collect them anyways they can transfer them into the games.

This would be something that wont bother me at all.

They could sell those things in gumball machines for just a dollar or so. I also bought a super mario galaxy keychain for a dollar just for fun.
So I see no problem selling chiped keychain's at all especially if its just the few pokemon that don't appear in both versions.
People then could also trade pokemon(keychains) in real life.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to put those chips into pokemon trading cards?

Everything is possible when you invent.

A main series game on the WiiU, though it would be incredibly awesome, has a 0.000000000001% chance of happening. Game Freak has practically stated that it would never release one on console, just look at how attached they are to sprites (Because they can be more artistic with them, which is a fair point, but still.). I loved Pokemon XD though, and a sequel to that would be absolutely fantastic in HD, the shadow effect would look fantastic, I could see that happening. As long as Pokemon Snap makes it to the WiiU or 3DS, I'm very happy though :P

I really hope Nintendo doesn't go that route.. That would be a TON of plastic toys laying around.
