What if it goes like that:

Buy RED edition and BLUE edition to get all pokemon
(well to be honest 2 versions on a home console are unlikely but still that could be an option maybe it will go like buy 3ds version and WiiU version in the future)
OR
Trade with friends/strangers online to get all pokemon.
OR
buy 1 version and toys to get all pokemon.

So there is no need for the toys but in case people collect them anyways they can transfer them into the games.

This would be something that wont bother me at all.

They could sell those things in gumball machines for just a dollar or so. I also bought a super mario galaxy keychain for a dollar just for fun.
So I see no problem selling chiped keychain's at all especially if its just the few pokemon that don't appear in both versions.
People then could also trade pokemon(keychains) in real life.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to put those chips into pokemon trading cards?
