Rumor: Bayonetta 2 cancelled
Was to include new character, says source.

Bayonetta 2, which has never been officially announced by Sega, was reportedly in pre-production at Platinum Games, but cancelled, according to Spong sources “familiar with the situation.”

The game was said to include a new character – a member of the U.S. military. Spong cites Sega’s recent restructuring as possible reason for the cancellation.

That's sad. Bayonetta was one of my favorite games this generation and by far my favorite action game.

After all the production values that went into creating the cutscenes, they realized they'd be better off just making it into a softcore porn movie if they cut out the game parts.

Sega's restructuring was the possible reason? That must feel extra crappy for PG considering Sega doesn't even own them and that can effect an important project like that, not to mention the first one sold quite well. One can only hope this rumour is only half correct (the correct half being Bayonetta was in the works, so hopefully it still is).

shame considering the first was the best hack and slash game this gen. Considering how hard ninja gaiden 3 flopped, god of war is probably the only hack and slash left that can sell. Really hope I'm wrong and darksiders 2 ends up being a good game and selling well. It would be pretty bad for this genre to be reduced to only devil may cry and god of war games.

That's rather disappointing if true. Though if they are cancelling that game, I hope it's because they're working on Okami 2 for the Wii U ... and a trailer will be shown at E3.... (salivates) ....  omg my heart, please stop me .

in terms of production values, it's not really special. In terms of plot, it's laughably bad. In terms of combat mechanics, it's close to if not the best there is, and in hack and slash games that is the most important thing imo.
