Forums - Gaming - Cheap Plug: Our Kickstarter project.

Hey everyone!

It's been a while since I've posted on here, due to school and other stuff.  That stuff includes indie game development on a puzzle game for PC, Mac, and Android of which I'm directing a small team of 5 people (myself included) in a concept that is intended to change-up the classic "falling block" style puzzle game.  Our team is From Nothing Game Studios and our game is GravBlocks.

The engine is finished, copyrights and trademarks have been filed, and the four gameplay modes are roughly 50% complete (altogether).  We're still filling in some art and tweaking things, and we hope to have it finished by the end of May, and hopefully, on it's way to Steam and the Droid Marketplace in June.

So what do we need from Kickstarter, aside from the support of fellow indie and video game enthusiasts?  Essentially, licenses.  We aren't exactly able to publish this stuff with student licenses and Kickstarter is there for us to garner the funds and support we need to get fully licensed software to publish our game.

We're eager to finish this title and move onto something else.  A shmup maybe?  A platformer?  Who knows where we're going in the future!

Find us here:  http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1265375819/gravblocks

Also, look us up in Facebook under From Nothing Game Studios from Richfield, Minnesota.

By the way--this is a great way for you to get your name in a game--enough support and you get a Special Thanks in our game.  That, or you have the option to be a Beta tester and be listed in the credits as that!

So this is also a call to anyone able to support and Beta-test.  Because we're going to need some Achievement hunters as there will likely be 60 Achievements in the game by the time it's done!

You can donate any amount you like, from $1 to a million (if you have it to spare, we can do wonders with that million).  There are incentives based on donation amount, such as being a Beta tester if you like, or a tote bag with the game logo on it.  Every donation level includes a free download of the game when we have it completed, and right now, the plan is for that to be either for PC or Mac.

We don't have a set plan for the Beta testing yet, but it will likely begin before the Kickstarter project ends--hopefully June 1st.  The current plan is for Beta testers to receive a weekly email with the latest build of the game for them to charge into.

Reminds me of Meteos. I like it a lot. Will contribute when I get home.

You guys actually have a pretty good idea. Looks interesting.

How much would it cost you to make a decent game? 100000?

It costs blood, sweat, tears, and time.

In this case, though, we need just enough to afford the legal licenses for our software!

I love Meteos and it was puzzle games like that, and Tetris Attack that served as original inspriation.  The next step was simply, "how can we change it so it feels brand new again?"

I'm confident we're accomplishing it, and thanks for your support!

May 9th, 2012, we will be presenting the game at the Twin Cities IGDA (International Game Developers Association) meeting at the Nerdery in Bloomington, MN. You should be able to catch us online if you like!

Just google IGDAtc (Twin Cities).

We've only got about a week left on our Kickstarter, but the game is nearly complete. Some final graphics are being put together and Achievements and Stats are being finished, then some Beta testing and we're done.

Thanks again for any support!
