Anyway, that's just a possibility (and I'm not even sure if that's a valid comparison). So, let's just hope good stuff comes out of this =) |
I don't think Rock Band necessarily killed off Guitar Hero, maybe to a certain degree. What really killed it was Activision releasing multiple pointless iterations and people eventually got fed up with the series.

Haven't you heard of LittleBigPlanet? |
If you think that LBP is in any way or form in the same league as Mario, either Galaxy or NSMB, then, I'm afriad you're sadly misinformed.
Also, is it REALLY true that you can only kill people with special moves?
Lets be honest here, Nintendo clearly created a successful format of game and it was only a matter of time before Sony was to use it, I don't blame them either.
| BenVTrigger said: Wait a second................. The only way to kill other players in the game is by using your Super Moves? Ok I was excited to play this due to the frantic fun I was planning on it having but if the only way to defeat people is builing up to do a Super move and no one takes damage other than that...............wow thats way lame. |
SuperBot's development team contains some fighting game veterans and they know what makes a game "hardcore" and competitive. I say put a little faith in them before writing it off completely.
Displeased? No way, I was actually pretty amused when I saw it. I mean, Super Smash Bros. is the (obvious) inspiration for the game, but honestly... the Smash Bros. beat-em-up style is such a great genre for a character mashup. It just does such a great job of implementing different characters with different play styles.
I mean, we've already seen Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Smash Up and Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion/XL, so the Smash clones are already there. Enjoy PlayStation fans, hopefully the game will turn out great.
Also, from what we've seen the game really doesn't seem to be pushing the PS3 that much... I wonder if Sony will beat Nintendo to the punch for a Handheld/Console simultaneous release? PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (That's a mouthful..) for the PSV and PS3... Sony's handheld does need a kick in the pants, and that could be a great title for it.

SCEJ made one of the best 3D platformers to this day, ape escape one of the best racers , GT One of the best rhythm games pararappa / u jammer Lammy / patapon Two of the BEST games ever made , shadow of the colossus, ICO They created some cult classics like legend of dragoon and siren They co created one of the best golf / tennis arcade games every bodies golf/tennis they co created demons souls and dark cloud, also white knight chronicles and rouge galaxy Other games they created are gravity daze, Echocrome , and other innovative stuff like eye of judgment
The reason why they don't work on ps3 all that much is because Sony are fucking idiots, they force them to make portable titles instead they save console games for the graphical generic games Now tell me what did SCEA do? Uncharted, the same bloody "game" 4 times already. God of war .... No point in mentioning how repetitive this is getting.... Woohoo new one is coming... Again Jak and Daxter, their best game, thrown to shit because its not "mature" enough. Co developed ratchet and clank , I bet you no longer care about this game anyway it's milked beyond belief Co developed Resistance , lol generic shooter number 192982819 SOCOM (the crappy ones) lol do I need to explain? Sport champions, demond quest, start the party, the shoot and countless crappy move games Now give me a valid point of why SCEA is better than SCEJ even though they're the only developers allowed to work on Sonys in house resources while abandonding support for SCEJ AND SCEE (have you seen what happened to THe getaway... Yeah they didn't want to waste money on it so they shifted their resources to ,,,,,playstation move ) |
You seem to have glossed over the part where I said "especially from a technical perspective when it comes to the PS3." SCEJ just isn't capable of making a PS3 game in a timely fashion. The extremely protracted development period for the Last Guardian shows us that SCEJ still doesn't have a grasp on developing for the PS3's hardware. Parappa the Rapper and Umjammer Lamby are NanaOn-Sha games. Everybody's Golf is Clap Hanz. The Legend of Dragoon was SCEI, I'm uncertain as to how much was actually developed by SCEJ. Shadow of the Colossus was a phenomenal game but it ran terribly and I know it's just an opinion but I have to laugh at the notion of Ape Escape being anything better than dreck. Sure, they're a creative and talented studio but they can not handle everything that modern console development entails. If they did we would have seen The Last Guardian by now. Also, I find your point about SCEA being incapable of creativity due to making too many sequels to be somewhat silly. This is a foolish reason to dismiss them as a studio, especially when it showcases the fact that they are actually capable of programming PS3 games. Also, what about Sly Cooper, Infamous, Crash Bandicoot (the good ones), Kinetica, Syphon Filter and The Last of Us? From a technical perspective they are vastly superior to SCEJ and from a creative standpoint I think you are too quick to dismiss them.

Trust me dude, I agree. LittleBigPlanet is certainly leagues ahead of anything Mario has ever reached. That wasn't my point though. Psrock wanted Sony to copy NSMB. I was just informing him that they had already did so with LittleBigPlanet. |
No, actually, it's easily the other way round, but I'm sure you knew that's what I meant, so...
But Sony didn't really copy Nintendo, because of the whole level-creation thing. So the levels never had the same spark or magic in them...but there was a lot more.
Depends if you prefer quality or quantity really.

I actually think it did. With Rock Band's ultra massive DLC possibilities, there was almost no need to buy another rhytm game ever again. They even killed off their own series using that strategy.
However... I am fully aware that Sony probably won't be able to do the same thing with PS All-Stars...
