Time for Nintendo to release that 3DSiXL Motion Plus with Rumble Pak and Vitality Sensor pack in

Yes, they will launch it when they feel that the Vita is gaining sales momentum.

I loved the new section in the Nintendo site.

Sales Data: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/sales/index.html
Hardware & Software Sales Units: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/sales/hard_soft/index.html
TOP Selling Software Sales Units: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/sales/software/index.html

There are so much data to compare

So Nintendo's stock is down 2.4% from where it closed yesterday in New York, meaning that first look investors are treating this number as a negative as the stock was up 3% in Japan before they were released.

You can really take these numbers one of two ways:

Glass half empty scenario:
-Wii, DS and 3DS margin pressure
-3DS still losing money and Nintendo said that the device will not be sold "below cost" starting in the 2nd half, which means it can break-even, doesn't necessarily mean it will profit.
-Uncertainty about the Wii U
-Nintendo has been wrong on their guidance for the past 3 years and forecasting for the upcoming year seems to be immature
-Still vulnerable to swings in currency exchange
-Burning through a lot of cash

Glass half full
-3DS will be at least break even in the second half 2012
-strong library scheduled for the second half of the year
-Certainty about the Wii U
-Still has alot of cash on hand

That is pretty nifty I must say.

So... how long until we get to see what was said in the investor's meeting?

The investor meeting is sometime tomorrow so anywhere between 10 and 18 hours we have to wait.

if you miss market expectations then the markets hits you.

the average market expectation was for better numbers.

It depends if you are talking about the future or past.

For the past, Nintendo didn't miss expectations, they beat.  Back in January they were forcasting a loss of 60 billion yen, they came in at loss of 43

For the future, they are coming in below forcast (Current forcast was for +40, nintendo is projecting +20) but forcasting a year out is a dangerous thing becuase you dont know what the world will look like a year from now, for all we know the world ends on the 21st of December.

This is awesome. Glad to know that MK7/3D Land can't save the 3DS.

How many quarters of losses can Iwata survive?

The 3DS is just fine in the West, but as scrooge said it so well, more Western handheld games would boost the system. It's being flooded in Japan with great SW, now the same needs to happen stateside and in Europe imho.

Plus, the DS gets a major boost in 2006, 1 to 2 years after launch, so if the 3DS wants to track as well, it needs to improve as the DS did

Juts updated that... looks worse now. lol

Anyway you think that shows the Vita is doing ok in the west????  Weird.

You do realise the 3DS sales take off big time after the price cut...  Is the VITA getting a price cut?

edit.. sorry I got confued, thought you were talking about the Vita...  yeah 3DS is ok in the west since its price cut

These charts only show the first 30 weeks of a unit that has been out almost twice that long (3DS).

DIdn't Nintendo announced using NPD data that the 3DS eclipsed the first year sales of the DS in the US. If that is the case, the 3DS numbers must be pretty good. But for it to go gang-busters, it will need a Pokemon jump in Year 2.

No, that's not what Onkel Dagobert said. He said the 3DS needs more major games in the West and these games will come from Japan, mainly from Nintendo themselves.

Onkel Dagobert :D I love it. Well, what I meant to say by "more Western handheld games" was kind of around the lines of "more games that cater to the Western market, be they oriental or western themselves".

And yeah, alot of such games come from Nintendo as you're saying, like NSMB2, Nintendogs + Cats (still selling I think), brain age and such. But more is always needed in the west
