happyD, I think you're off the beat here (is that the expression?)...
You shouldn't focus on the graphics - that's not what Mario is, or ever was, about (thu, they really did look awesome way back in the 80's!). They're about fun! And you can't judge that yet.
the thing I'm most dissapointed with with 2D mario is that it's not pushing any more limits! They used to show everyone what could be done! I don't feel like they've managed to do that since the early 90's. The same actually goes for Sonic: he's not popular any more cuz he's not relevant any more!
The reason for the NSMB-series popularity is in parts due to the fact that we hadn't had a 2D Mario when it came out to the DS, and that the Wii version gave you the coop option. But other than the coop Mario ain't pushing it in 2D any more! They're playing safe. THAT'S what you should be raging about happyD! Visuals don't make the game good.
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
For the Nth time, I think I'm the only one who sees:

A nice moving 3D background here (and possible multiple planes)

Some lens-flares that will look great in 3D! And nobody's even interested in why all enemies are gold in this shiny screenshot?
Expect a huge number of surprises! NSMB had a different twist for each and every level! In some ways thats better than even the almighty Super Mario World.

I would've been more excited for NSMB DS tbh. I understand what you guys are saying, these are just screenshots. But I don't want any of the cheesy visuals anytime soon (the details in the autumn level, the christmas trees). It just doesn't appeal to me.

You provided the worst location for ocarina of time possible, lol! The only prerendered place in the entire game - it looked bad in 1998, and the game was gorgeous in 1998!
herpderp graphics mean more than gameplay guise!
My Console Library:
PS5, Switch, XSX
PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360
3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android
I'll just put it plainly... graphics matter to me. And so does gameplay. If one is bad, it will affect my satisfaction, as a customer of my profile (gamer that likes good presentation).
If you don't care about presentation, buzz off. This thread is not for you.
I'm not a big fan of the "New" Mario Bros games for DS/Wii, but the creens for this one have me interested. More than likely day 1.
Also, whats up with Nintendo using statements as game names:"New Super Mario Bros", "Donkey Kong Country Returns"....-_-
