As an investor, good.

As a gamer, I wish Nintendo would diversify their Mario game series more.

Oh ok. What does Tanooki do? 

Raccoon Mario has a tail that allows him to do a spin attack, hover in the air (or rather descend at a slower speed than normal) to make platforming a bit easier and can fly for a short while if enough speed is built up.

Tanooki Mario does the same as Raccoon Mario and has the additional ability to transform Mario into an invincible statue for a brief time. Can't move that way, but the statue allows the player to disable obstacles they could otherwise not (like flamethrowers on airships).

Since 3D has the habit of making things worse, Tanooki Mario in Super Mario 3D Land got its ability to fly removed. The standard version of the Tanooki Suit in this game doesn't even transform Mario into a statue, only the advanced version that is found much later in the game does that. In other words, the fake Mario game got fake Tanooki Suits.

New Super Mario Bros. 2, a REAL Mario game, looks like it's getting the REAL Raccoon.

THIS again?! xD I'm just curious as to what makes 3D land NOT a real Mario game?? I haven't played it yet (only briefly for 1 minute, so it doesn't count) and don't know if Mario starts out small and then grows by eating a mushroom...

Yeah, I think Nintendo is trying to please their investors with all these Mario games! It's a shame really...
