Call of Duty bundle was exclusive to Xbox 360 and CoD is bigger than any Star Wars game in existence.

Never said that the call of duty bundle wasn't exclusive to the xbox360 nor that it doesn't out sell star wars games.

Doesn't prove at all in the slightest that more call of duty of bundles were shipped tho.

Fact is we know the numbers of CoD bundles. Fact is you only got that bundle for Xbox 360 thus it was exclusive to that platform. Star Wars Kinect is an exlcusive game, but certainly not the biggest exclusive out there, so the exclusivity only really shows in software sales.

Wrong and a typical mistake made by many people. Call of Duty attracts over 100k people to the 360 every year.

Go check the charts. Big games ALWAYS bring new people to a platform. Next CoD will prove it once more.

No other IP in the recent games had a similar effect on the HD consoles. Or why do you think CoD sells more and

more every year if there weren't any new players?

The problem with that is call of duty is released during the holidays and you have no idea how much of the

increase is due to seasonal numbers, stand alone purchases or bundle purchases. And for the record call of

duty doesn't sell more and more every year, the latest call of duty is down on what the previous one sold.

but you can easily measure the drop off in the next week ! Again we know the number of CoD bundles and that they were sold out in the first week. The rest are stand alone purchases.
One analyst claims it was down (without having access to all markets). We don't.

I think you're exaggerating the hype a bit. CoD is earning MS more money than Star Wars currently and while it is

important they KNOW that Kinect is only really doing well during the holidays and not during the slow weeks.

Nope not exaggerating anything. Kinect has been the main focus of Microsoft for the past two E3's and they've spent

a record amount of money advertising it as well. Kinect sells best during the holidays but Microsoft would like it

to sell all year long and the only way they are going to do that is releasing huge kinect games at other times of

the year and marketing the hell out of them like they've done with kinect star wars.

and that's their first approach and won't ship hundreds of thousands bundles for testing how many new Kinect owners they could attract. In case now one wants them, they would need to throw the rest away. Very unlikely that they shipped so many knowing how big the demand is.

As far as Kinect bundles go, yeah. I still prefer the CoDMW3 and the GeoW3 one

Thing is that's just your opinion, the vast majority of everybody else's opinion is that the star wars xbox

console is the best limited edition xbox console of this generation.

lol that sounds EXTREMELY biased. Proof ? Or you have none ? then skip this point.

While this is true, Star Wars didn't see much attention in any media lately. The huge hype has died down quite a bit.

More people on this planet know what star wars is compared to call of duty and all year long you see star

wars related media, unlike call of duty.

But how many of them are potential gamers ? Probably only the ones who grew up with Episode 1-3. Then cross out the ones who don't give a fuck about gaming etc.
Call of Duty however is "in" at the moment and there are at least 30m possible buyers for the next game.

They're pushing it just like every other exclusive with the exception of Halo and Gears of War.

Star wars kinect has been advertised more than the latest call of duty ever was.

Proof on how much they spent on marketing ?

Call of Duty bundles were sold out in its first week of appearance. Star Wars Kinect sold 18k in its first week in the UK

and we know that 12% of that came from these bundles. So only 2k in the third biggest market of the world. Considering

the first week sales are 420k globally means that many bundles are in stock naturally.

Just because a bundle sold x amount in one region doesn't mean the exact same thing happened everywhere

else and if the call of duty bundle sold out quickly where as the star wars one hasn't yet, then who's to say the

reason why it hasn't sold out yet is because more star wars bundles were shipped in the first place.

Sure but have you better data ? Look at how many Kinect Adventures were sold this week. Think about the ~37m Xbox owners who don't have a Kinect yet and only buy the Kinect add on and not a new package. Think about how much Kinect sells in the previous week and how many of them don't care about Star Wars. (2.6% of Kinect owners bought Star Wars Kinect).
MS knows how many bundles they need to ship. They know the pre-orders, they know how many extra bundles they have to provide for the stores.

I'd say anything over 150k is already extremely exaggerated.

No not really.

Yes yes really. Unless you give me an example which limited edition bundle sold more than that

Microsoft is sending Xboxs for Mars.~

If my Maths are right and Microsoft ships 1.5M Xbox now and lets say with Price Drop other 2.5M next Quarter and then 7.5M on Last quarter Xbox will be at around 77/78M when this year ends, with luck 80M.

Amazing :o

1.4m it is then, really good. Last year was restocking the channel, all other previous years are in the 1.3 - 1.7m range, which suggests this Q is nothing out of the ordinary like so many expected.

Last 3 years are

2009 - 1.7 M

2010 - 1.5 M

2011 - 2.7 M

So range is highly erratic.. but i think it will be unfair to call it 1.3 to 1.7 M

Little disappointing in my view.. Its a big big fall from 2.7.. Should have been near 2 M if not above it.

Not sure if you paid much attention to last years sales, but the last two weeks of December there were 360 shortages all over the place, with the shipments not arriving till the Q1, it's obvious that that number would inflated, people seem to be forgetting that they had to ship more to compensate for the shortages last year. Whereas this year the number that they've shipped correlates with their usual shipments beforehand. Ignoring last year since it's an anomaly, 1.4m is an OK number, although probably around 150-200k of it is LE SW bundles, so that may make the number appear inflated, but with the popularity of that bundle.. I have no doubt that it will be sold out by Q2 most likely, even the GOW/MW3 bundles sell out, and they don't look anywhere as sexy or have such a wide appeal.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

And yes, of course XBox Slims had yield problems. The CPU/GPU die was a complete redesign in (32nm which was reasonably new at that time), incorporating two different design philosophies on a singe die. Again, this ultimately was IBMs problem, though, to get enough money from MS to offset the loss for too many required dies.

Actually you seem pretty spot on with everything else, however it is likely 45nm given the timing of release and having to first sample, test then ramp up the chip. The design itself was likely finished in 2009 on the process it was released on and the only process they could use at the time was 45nm.

Tease.

You mean the stunning 41,000 the xbox360 dropped the following week after call of duty came out compared to the 48,000 the xbox360 increased on the release of star wars kinect followed by a 36,000 drop the week after that. Yep massive difference there lol.

and that's their first approach and won't ship hundreds of thousands bundles for testing how many new Kinect owners they could attract. In case now one wants them, they would need to throw the rest away. Very unlikely that they shipped so many knowing how big the demand is.

But kinect isn't new, this isn't the first time they've shipped kinect or kinect bundles. They know the demand and the potential and the bottom line is you have no idea how many they shipped.

lol that sounds EXTREMELY biased. Proof ? Or you have none ? then skip this point.

Exactly you have no proof. But here's just a quick example of a typical review of the console bundle http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/44152/star-wars-xbox-360-exclusive

Star wars collectors will collect anything, they don't have to be gamers to buy the limited edition console and lol at only people who grew up with episode 1-3 are probably gamers.

Proof on how much they spent on marketing ?

You mean apart from the record $500M Microsoft has spent on advertising kinect, and i've seen far more star wars kinect adverts on tv than call of duty adverts.

Just off the top of my head microsoft shipped 200,000 limited edition green halo xbox's in 2004.

sry I won't bother with you anymore. If you can't see why a drop (doesn't matter how big that drop is) in the busiest weeks in the year is so signifcant, it's just a waste of time. (along with everal other flaws in your logic)

MS shipped 1.4m Kinect Star Wars bundles, every Star Wars fan on earth and beyond owns one and everything you say is true

NOT.

Whit so much overshipping, xboxes must be stacking to paradise.

I may not understand how all of this works but how can they overship every quaters is beyond my understanding.

so they ship 100
sell 50
stack 50
ship 100
sell 50
stack 100
ship 100
sell 50
stack 150 and beyond infinite

in the end retailers must be building more warehouses to stack all those xboxes...

Thanks for your opinion..... i look forward to seeing Nintendo's detailed sales figures for all the consoles and Microsoft's next quarterly shipment figures.

I kinda forgot the starwars bundle. Also the white kinect bundle was released to.
To be fair however, my Wal-Mart got in about 4 Starwars systems and the same for the Kinect bundle. I also haven't seen a re-supply come in.

I do however think we had way too many 4gb Kinect bundles in at one point.

Now if only I could find a ample supply of discounted MW3 or Gears 3 consoles...

It's just that simple.
