Forums - Microsoft - Hard Reset: Microsoft Makes Mistake With Halo 4

Hard Reset

Microsoft announced that the next installment in the Halo “trilogy” Halo 4 will be released on November the 6th of this year. The release day manages to miss some of the holiday seasons biggest games,  Borderlands 2, Bioshock Infinite, Assassin’s Creed 3, and Medal of Honor: Warfighter. The date is also on the same day as the US presidential election, meaning that the voting turnout will be a lot less than usual.

However, Microsoft are slightly forgetting one thing when releasing Halo 4 at the start of november. They are forgetting a game which is advertised as being on their platform. A game that gives them platform exclusive DLC. A game that sells more copies than most others combined. A small title called CALL OF DUTY. For the last few years, Call Of Duty has always released the first Tuesday in November. This year it looks like it will be Master Chief VS Unnamed AK holder.

Of course that is entirely dependent on if Black Ops 2/Modern Warfare 4 is announced to come out this year. Wait, what I am saying. Of course it is.

Meh, they'll live

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Okay, so I guess Halo 4 will only sell 3 million lifetime... -.-

Who would have thought that a holiday season might be crowded?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

It doesnt really matter when they release it, it will still have to face CoD. And it will be one epic battle. Reach lost this fight a couple of years back, and 4 will do the same. MC is a big gaming icon, but it wont be able to stand against the phenomenon that is Activisions baby. Never the less it will sell well . But my god games like Borderlands 2 and MoH will suffer :))

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Sorry, are they going to release it in a year without CoD? How?

I guess they could move it to September, the same sort of time as Halo 3, but it is better that it gets done and convinces the old fans that 343 can replace Bungie

If there was any justice in the world, Halo would bury COD, not vice versa

why they think MS forget that

btw,COD actually release at second tuesday of Nov,so next COD likely coming Nov 13

I'm sure MS know what they're doing.

So.. Exclusive COD console and likely exclusive Halo 4 bundle. Like 500k LE consoles altogether in US alone? Thing is, those who want Halo will get it, and those who want both, will get both. The only bad thing I see is those looking to upgrade and liking both will be confused which LE to pick up, but other than that, a massive hardware boost for one week or a decent one for two consecutive weeks.

Also, I think COD will come out the second week of November, as it usually comes out around ~11th.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

It's not a bad deal. Parents will just have to buy Halo and CoD in the same month, if anything It's going to mean more pushed back/delayed games because less companies are going to be willing to compete with two huge games. Halo and CoD in the same month is going to hurt other game sales by a lot.

It's just that simple.
