The numbers on Vgchartz are getting more and more accurate as the site's influence grows! Good I say. I've even convinced Norway's two biggest newspapers to use us as a source in some of their console specials online.
Funny, in Norwegian forums the general tone was: "No, they pull the numbers out of their ass and rely solely on guesstimation"
But once the first big news outlet (Dagbladet) used it online, it was more: "Well, that seems about correct, I mean it's Vgchartz afterall..."

A real kicker for me at least!

So I think it's pretty safe to assume these are Chart-Track numbers.

No, I meant what I said. I can't see how you can infer that Wii sold 260K more than the Xbox 360 during Q4 from the Screen Digest/Chart-Track data.

I missed that 40,000 Xbox 360 HD-DVD attachments had been sold too.

I don't know if this has been posted or not, but here's some more 2007 UK data (Chart-Track):

1:DS - 2.5M
2: Wii

DS sold 950.000 units in 2005, 2.050.000 in 2006 and 2.500.000 in 2007.

So DS LTD till end of 2007 is 5.500.000 units!

VGChartz says  5,558,046 units till 30.12.2007, very close. ^^

@BKK2: Well unless I have missed something I was right in correcting you.

The original numbers you gave for all three consoles are supposedly up till 30th September, at which time the Wii was 260k under the xbox360,... if the Wii passed the x-box360 in Q4, then it must have sold 260k more than it in that timeframe.... if the Wii only sold 360k but still managed to overtake x-box then the x-box must have sold less than 100k... which is clearly not true when PS3 managed 300k in that timeframe.

So i'm afraid what you should have said is "Wii sold 260k more than xbox360 in Q4"
strictly speaking, as the article about Wii surpassing xbox360 was early December, the Wii in fact sold 260k more than xbox360 for October+November.

1.55M - 1.19M = 360K

So all we can say with certainty is that it sold (probably well) over 360K in Q4. It's mathematically possible (although unlikely) that 360 could have outsold the Wii during December following Wii's "takeover", so it's not possible to calculate a minimum that Wii outsold Xbox 360 in Q4.

Thanks, that's actually 3 months into 2007, which would mean they sold less than 2,050,000 in 2006. I'm after 2006 YTDs, but only have the following:

1: DS - ????
2: PSP - 800K
*: 360 - 740K
*: WII - 200K
*: GC - 10K

Less than 800K:

*: GBA - ????
*: PS2 - ????
*: Xbox - ????

But here they announced at the end of October that according to Chart-Track they've sold 4 Million in the UK, and 1 Million in 2007 alone, which matches your 2006 2,050,000 figure.

DS hits four million in UK.

So they sold 1.5M in the last 2 months of the year, which is pretty impressive. Other Chart-Track data confirms that they had been selling at around that rate.

I'm surprised Nintendo didn't announce that they passed 5M, as they did when they hit 1M, 2M, 3M, and 4M, but I guess it happened during the holidays whilst the PR staff weren't at the office. ;)
