Yes you can! Did you read the OP?

I think being voted the worst company in 2011 and all the hate they're receiving on the internet is a step forward, but we aren't going to make a very big impact and their games will continue to sell. I'm buying all of their games second hand from now on, no DLC either.

@ AndrewWK

Yes, I am playing Battlefield 3 at the moment and I did buy all the map packs, it will probably be the last one though, I'm moving on from that game.

Hmm... I was pretty sure Netflix would take that spot. What a shame.

It´s very funny how everybody about EA buying all the companies. This is how the game is played Whether you kill the competition or you let them work for you. And Bioware is bigger and stronger then they ever now they work on 3 projects at the same. Bigger company = more employees, more employees=stronger economy.

Whilst that's a plus (and one I raised earlier in the thread), it can also have a negative affect on some of their projects. Communication becomes difficult when you've got 1000+ employees, especially if you're tasking smaller teams to do some of lesser tasks on a project. It can also lead to some teams not having the talent of others resulting in some poorer products/games which can have an adverse effect on the Bioware brand. It all depends now on how Bioware manage their expansion.

@Bolded That is a step in the right direction

@Underlined That is precisely the problem if you don't like EA. (Know that you're stoping)

EA is not exactly popular with people like us and it's widely known among gamers to be unfriendly and unfair to consumers. But is all the hate they recieve really justified? Online passes, Day one DLC, origin account requirement for games... these are all considered detrimental to the user experience and arguably to the industry as a whole, but they are good business, and that is what EA is, a business, they are doing nothing illegal and only trying to achieve their primary goal, which is to make money. If you don't like the way they run their business, you can change that. We are the consumer and we have the power to change how EA achieves their primary goal.

There is just a proper and improper way we should go about doing so; we shouldn't tank the user scores of their games, we shouldn't harrass and insult the men and women who run EA, we shouldn't swear and become infuriated at Day 1 DLC. What we should do is something proactive, something that'll actually send a message to EA and change the way their business is run. It's simple, if you don't like the way they run things, don't buy their products!

If you don't like, for example, day 1 DLC, don't buy it. Encourage others to do the same and when sales start to drop, EA will need to rethink their strategy; this is when we, the consumers, tell them what we think is reasonable and what we will spend our money on. Same applies to Origin and the same applies to online passes, you don't like them? That's fine, tell them with your wallet. What we shouldn't do is buy their product, buy their day 1 DLC and then sign some silly petition or write some rude words about them in a forum after giving them your money. This is NOT how things change, they don't give 2 shits about your petition aslong as they have your money.

So to conclude and answer the question in the title, is the hate for EA justified? Not really, I mean God forbid a business wants to make money right? If you want them to change, let them know with your wallet.

Agreed. Your suggestion boils down to 1 thing: Do we respond in a civilized manner? Or do we act as a self-entitled prick of a gamer? We need more of you in the gaming community, and less of those barbarians that hide behind internet aliases and trash the web with their filth...

Thank you. Finally someone like-minded on this issue! Friended :P

What I dislike the most about EA is how they close the servers of some games only a year or two after the release of the game. That's just frustrating.

But Bioware has done nothing that would indicate that they are going to change negatively. The only thing I disliked was the day 1 DLC, but they released a free MP DLC and have promised an exetendet cut for the end gratis. And they will make DLC´s to expand Mass Effect3 just like they did Mass Effect 2 I really loved the Lair of the shadow broker DLC and Overlord was pretty cool as well.

Completely agree. Sad is the majority are very comfortable following the mindset of blamming company´s and not perceiving that if they buy they products they are contributing to the business model of said company. It´s easier to find a scapegoat than to see the larger picture. Also video games are not necessity goods, so the option of voting with your wallet is the right one. Nice thread Andrespetmonkey.

Nah they are great

Only some Bioware Fanboys are angry cause Bioware screwed up in every game since DA:O and ME1.
People need to accept those were just lucky shots

And what else is there to hate? They helped DICE with BF3 aka the best FPS ever created.
Fifa is great

Online Pass?I think its awesome - At least people should pay a little bit to the company if they buy their games used cause this is worse than piracy.

Sony,M$ and EA together should ban used games in an instant - They together can do it.

Activision is the true evil of gaming.
If CoD never would have existed we still had the quality level of the PS2 Era...Japanese Developers would be a lot more succesful...Not everything wouldn't need to be a shooter or "W-RPG"(Shooter).
CoD changed a lot to the bad side - And the true evil is they don't even put effort in it.They just reprint the same game every year and put a new cover in the box and make tons of money while other devs have to put in thousand hours of work to get nothing.
