March and early April were bad but rest of Q2 looks much better:

04/17 - Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention (PSV)

05/01 - Mortal Kombat (PSV)

05/29- Resistance

05/31 - Silent Hill: Book of Memories (PSV)

06/12 - Gravity Rush (PSV)

end of June - LBP

Thats a sexy little lineup right there.

Not really. Disgea, Silent Hill and Gravity Rush will all struggle to reach 500k, or anything like it.

Mortal Kombat will hit 500k, maybe.

LBP and Resistance will probably reach 7-800k.

Nothing will boost sales for more than a week, and even then, maybe only by a couple k.

The Vita NEEDS a system seller. There isn't one yet. And none of those look as though they will be.

I was talking about what I want to play. And LBP, resistance and MK should all be million sellers.

That's cool. I knew that And I agree.

But my point remains that, from a business standpoint, it's pretty poor.

And the best selling Mortal Kombat game this past gen sold 1.6mil, on the PS3, which had a 55mil install base at the time. That's a 2.9% attach rate. And fighting games aren't as big on handhelds. LittleBigPlanet sold 2mil on the PSP, with an install base of 58mil at the time, making it 3.4%. Resistanceon the PSP only sold 800k, on an install base of 57mil at the time, so that ain't gonna happen. For any of those games to sell a million, you'd need closer to 50%, or for it to sell slowly for a very, VERY long time. None of the series' are big enough for that, or to sustain sales.

Remember that Uncharted for PSV has only just reached 500k, and the next best selling game isn't even at 200k. The Vita simply doesn't have the selling power yet.

PSVita actually sells fairly well when it comes to digital sales. While most do not rate a title after buying it (And you can only rate IF you buy it digital), the game does have 3,500 rates in the US store. So in the US we can think of maybe 5-10k more on the sales at least for the US and maybe the same or more in EU.

Even if not, Uncharted would still be boasting a 25% or higher attach rate, which is pretty damn good if you ask me, especially considering not only did it have 25+ other titles to compete with at launch, but also costed $10-$20 more than all other titles. To think what it could be at if it didn't launch at a ridiculous price of $50, but rather $40 like everything else.

Perhaps. But Uncharted was there at launch, and that's the difference. It was also the must-have title at launch, so it's a different thing. Have a look at sales of a game released at launch for past systems; they always do better because there's less choice.

People went out to buy a PSV for Uncharted. It's doubtful the same will happen for LBP, at least, not as much.

Look at the post below yours for another opinion. Hoping for million-sellers at this point when an incredibly popular launch title can't do it is asking too much. The install base is just too low.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

While I'd love to see such sales I think that's way too much.

Disgaea is niche with cult following so probably around 50k in USA

MK is big name but fightning games usually do terribly on handhelds so 50-100k for USA, maybe 250k WW.

Resistance should be around half of Uncharted ? So like 500k WW

Gravity Daze is a wild card here - it sold decently in Japan and has tons of hype + good opinions from importers but could be too artistic/unique for mass market so there's potential for great sales or flop like Folklore.

LBP should be big - not sure if it'll sell milion but should at least push a few systems.

Also it's interesting how biggest stuff comes at end of May, half of June, end of June - so all in time for Summer holidays - that should maximize the effect from them.

Tekken is one of psp's best sellers. Of course MK and tekken are very different games but still.

Tekken was early in PSP lifecycle - and enjoyed long period of being only current gen Tekken for years so I don't think it's representative. SF4 for 3DS did nicely too but that probably comes more from being highest quality launch title.

Glad to see that Sony is doing well. They need every cent right now :)

I absolutely agree, but there is no guarantee that these titles won't continue to sell as the install base grows. It is definitely possible that as the Vita grows, so will these titles. I remember when Uncharted 1 on PS3 started off super slow (Like 30k or so first week), but as the install base grew and word of mouth as well, the titles sales grew along with it.

People who might buy the Vita for Mortal Kombat or even Gravity Rush may pick up Uncharted along the way and vice versa.

Also do not forget that Vita hasn't had a holiday season in the US yet. One could expect by years end for many of these titles to be million sellers, especially Uncharted. Holiday 2007 is when Uncharted 1 really began to boost up, which caused it to go from a 30k week 1 title to the 4m+ seller it is today.

Nothing is set in stone yet.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Wasn't Wii confirmed to be ~150k? I thought Nintendo said that.

Nintendo said 175k

Ladies and gentelman : Vita is Dead in USA and wont recover, Wii U is coming so Nintendo doesnt care about Wii and Xbox is a Beast in Americas and has next gen locked down.

Also if MS cuts the price... heads will explode.

You were smart enough not to reply to me when I made a remark about your idiotic post 2 days ago. But surely, people can't be that stupid to predict a console is dead after 1 month of sales. PS3 had to endure the same doom and gloom from people like you and yet it sold many more million units then 360 in the same time frame. Vita will be fine don't you worry kid, I'm sure Sony knows more about what they're doing than an armchair analyst.

thats why they are nearly bankrupt.

Facepalm.

PlayStation ecosystem dominates the American charts:

PS3: 337k

PSV:>200k<225k

Makes atleast 550k of systems sold for Sony, not including PSP and PS2. Pure profit making machines right now.

Handhelds are really doing mediocre in the west. What a shame.

Becuase they've done such a fanastic job the last 4 years, approaching like $10b losses no?

I imagin MS are making more on 360 ($115) than Sony are with Vita (makes a loss FYI) PS3, PSP and PS2 combined.
