Add in the super small sweet spot and the resolution being halved and we're at a 2. The final nail in the coffin is max 3D is lame. I should have a slider for a reason; don't use it as an one and off switch. I'd prefer to play on my 65' 3D display not because of it's size, but because the 3D effect is just so much better.
So tell me, how good is the 3D on your 65' TV when you take the glasses off?
How good is the 3d on 3DS when you dont have it in the "proper" position??
I don't think that's what he meant, basicly the 3D without glasses is still pretty much new, and was even newer when the 3DS launched. And also i have a 50" Samsung 3Dtv from 2011 and i still think the 3D on the 3DS is great. its only normal a $1200 TV that has a much bigger screen is going to be better, but that still doesn't take away points from the 3DS like he is trying to do. And i think judging from the systems he owns, its clear why he made such a statement in the first place.
Or maybe you are too paranoid and in love with Ninty?? Just because someone doesnt like the 3d in 3DS doesnt mean they have some agenda, lets be mature here. Every point he made beside the slider is true, do you not have to have it in a certain position to get the full effect?? Does it not kill the resolution in some games??
I love it though fell short of saying Its awesome. Simply because the technology isn't quite their yet. I hate having to adjust my 3DS constantly holding it exactly the right way to get the 3D effect. I know screens are in development that auto adjust using face tracking or avoid the problem in other ways. But of course those technologies are insanely expensive. For now I am satisfied with the 3DS I never have the 3D effect below maximum strength and I love it! Of course not all games take enough advantage of it!

I think you need to mature here, and i think the voters agree with me on this as you can see from the results. Im not in love with Nintendo, i love gaming not the companys that make the consoles but the games, If i didnt i wouldn't own pretty much every console this gen and the one before it and the one before that etc. And its very clear he has an agenda as the 3D on the 3DS is great, and no not every point he made is true. Sure you have to be in front of the 3DS to see the effect, but when is a handheld not in front of you??. And no it doesn't kill the resolution in any game i have played, after all we are playing on a handheld so comparing it to a 50"+ 3d Tv is not the same, and thats clearly what he was trying to do. If you ask me he is just butt hurt cos the Handheld he spend so much money on is getting destoryed by the 3DS and he is worried it might not get many games...
The 3D on 3ds is ok, no where near great. The fact that you cant move the system at all without losing the effect, brings the experience down. When is the system not in front of you?? What kind of response was that, you know damn well that the 3DS has to be in a specific position or else the 3d effect becomes wonky. I will agree that comparing it to a full size TV might not have been the way to go about it. And I have noticed the resolution take a hit in SSF and PilotWIngs to name but two, not huge but its there

He's entitled to his opinion, but two of his statements make me wonder how long he has spent with a 3DS and how many titles he used to test the 3D.
1. Resolution being halfed? In games like RE: Revelations where the 3D effect is negligible, the only reason I switch on the 3D is because the resolution actually seems to increase!
2. The only game of the 6 I have in which the 3D slider seems to be more of an on/off switch is RE: Revelations. In a game like Zelda, as I said earlier, the closer the screen is to your face, the lower the strength required from the 3DS screen.

Meh... it's alright. It works well enough, but it's by no means the reason you'd want to pick it up. The novelty of it wears off pretty fast, and soon all that matters is whether or not you're able to play good games on it. That's the kicker for any system, and the 3DS is no exception. Lucky for us, Nintendo does seem to be going out of their way to release a AAA game every 2 or 3 months, and so the 3DS is the first Nintendo handheld that I will have to purchase in order to play games like Paper Mario or Luigi's Mansion. Usually the consoles have all the good sequels, but times have changed.
I'd give it a 7. I can only think of two retail games that I prefer to play in 3D (Mario Land, Kid Icarus), whereas with other games I turn off the 3D once the novelty wears off. Perhaps this is because those two games are designed to take more advantage of 3D in gameplay, while the likes of Ocarina of Time weren't originally designed for the effect.

Wow i think Zelda looks stunning in 3D :D
It does look stunning. However, I care more about how the gameplay works and is presented in 3D. In a platformer like Super Mario 3D Land or the on-rail segments of Kid Icarus, depth perception is a matter of life and death, and they feature all sorts of neat visual tricks that take full advantage of the effect. I'm not getting the same feeling from Ocrina of Time 3D.
I have to say when I testplayed the 3DS at gamescom it appeared to me it suffers from the same problems 3D is suffering in general around now... it all looks like 3 layers... there is no real depth perception for me... just one thing seems nearer then another thing that is nearer another thing and then it stops... nothing nearer of farer displayed... maybe it was the game I was playing that was laking, but anyway, I like the general idea of the 3D handheld display - also I encountered no headache problems or something like that...
All in all I have to say that according to the other 3D stuff I have seen it is probably still a 7/10, tough I haven't tried out much 3D stuff yet
Not really a fan of 3D, and I don't really find the 3D on the 3DS to be very impressive, aside from the fact you don;t need glasses. You have to keep your head and the 3DS pretty still not to ruin the effect, and it doesn't enhance gameplay.
But then again I only used it to play Ocarina of Time (which I never finished), so my experience is limited.
