Played some more Resistance 2, it's such a mediocre game.

Uncharted 2 on the other hand has improved for me, although it didn't meet the expectations that have developed as a result of the hype that every fanboy raves about, it's still a GOOD game so far - at Nepal so far.

KZ2 I gave up on till I download the update for it, which won't be for a while, as it'll take a few hours.

Should have played Resistance 3 immediately instead. It has a much better SP

Wanted to see whether it was actually worth playing, so far the story has been shallow and about pretty much a carbon copy of Gears, which I never really liked to begin with.

Really, the third fixes that. It's almost unrelated to 2, except the overall story is still the same, but it has a totally different vibe to it. Reminds me of HL2's story if you've played that (but not quite as great, of course)

That's the problem, this IP has disappointed me already, although the game is relatively cheap now, I am unlikely to take the risk of buying Resistance 3 because chances are I might not enjoy it at all, quite like what's happening with the second one, which is pretty boring so far.

Tales of Grace f is the best game on the PS3 this year.

If you get demons souls get it now! It's cheap and there is noguarentee the servers will be up after October. Players are lucky they added that extra year on already. After that its single player only.

Updates wont be nearly as bad in the future, you are just missing several and need to catch up.

If you like old zelda games get 3D Dot Game Heroes, but make sure you install the data from the main menu and SAVE OFTEN. The game can lock up during load screens, say 1% of the time.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

did he just say Uncharted 2 looks dated?

Have you played the Cooperative mode in Resistance 2? I love it so much.

If you like RPGs try Eternal Sonata. It's a brilliant game.

Journey from the PSN store
and GoW

Online? That seemed its only redeeming feature, as friend stayed around and we went online for a mission or two, unfortunately it only finished updating at 5AM in the morning, so I didn't get to play the online much at all!

Yeah, that tends to happen. The hype actually ends up hurting the experience because you keep looking for that mind blowing moment that doesn't exist.  Without the expectations, you'll enjoy them more.  For example, I got Uncharted 3 the day it came out and was a little let down by it.  A few days ago, I saw somebody playing the demo in Gamestop and I just stopped and watched them play because it suddenly looked more impressive!  In the attempts to make our console look better and make others feel inferior, we tend to overhype things to an unreasonable level.  360 guys try to make it seem like the online, Kinect, and controller are so much better but really, it's almost the same as a PS3.  PS3 owners try to make it seem like the graphics are on some other level, the exclusives are so awesome, and that they change out their HDD every Tuesday when the experience is almost identical to the Xbox 360.  There are a couple of differences between the two but they aren't really things that most people actually care about.  At least you get to see it first hand, now.

With that said, I'll agree with what others have already posted:  Get Valkyria Chronicles.  It's a fun and charming SRPG.  Very well made game and quite a unique experience.  I also enjoyed Heavy Rain though it's more movie than game.  The story keeps you hooked.  If you don't know who the killer is, I say buy it.

I also think these games are worth checking out at some point:

  • God of War 3:  Not the best playing or the best story but it's a beautiful looking game.  Some awesome set pieces justify the purchase.
  • inFamous:  I was disappointed with it but you may enjoy the feeling of becoming more powerful more than I did.
  • Uncharted 3: Not as balanced as Uncharted 2 but still a good time with some fun characters.
  • MGS4:  If you played the other games, I say buy it.  If not, don't worry about it.  Be warned:  It's nowhere near what people hype it up to be.

As usual, I would love to hear your impressions on the PS3 as a whole.  Controller, hardware, online, games, etc.

Get PS Plus asap.
