It's crazy how people is talking PS4 and Sony is talking ten year life span.

10 year life span doesn't mean a newer console won't be released within 10 years, it means the console will be supported with software for a minimum of 10 years. PS2 had a 10 year life cycle, it was supported for a minimum of 10 years although it's succesor came out in 6 years.

Have you  heard what Sony has been saying.

Yes. PS3 will be supported for a minimum of 10 years, this does not rule out the PS4 coming before 10 years. This is what SONY means by 10-year life cycle.

PS2 was still supported after PS3 came out.

PS3 will still be supported after PS4 comes out until at least 2016.

I like the idea of this vita orbis thing, but i really dont like the name orbis.
orbis + vita + move = wiiu with better graphics.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

3 devices against 1?

The rEVOLution is not being televised

It seems somewhat redundant to offer 4096x2160 support when we'll be hearing about PS5 rumours long before TVs that support that are anywhere close to becoming commonplace.

Then again an early PS3 rumour suggested dual HD screen support, so there's that for reliability...

Sergiodaly, the problem with your prediction isn't cost but power consumption and heat dissipation. A 180 watt GPU at 28 nm processing will not be 100 watt next year even with upcoming 22/20 nm processing.

that is why i use the term, modified
they can bring the GPU clock speed down and bring the memories speed down... also, that power output is for the entire card, and here sony will only use the GPU, and mems, the rest could be taken down or rearranged in the motherboard...

they cut by half the power used by ps3 from the 1st fat to the 2nd slim... until then same things could be done to improve the power usage!

lots can happen until then!

They also cut down the chip sizes from 90 nm to 40 nm.   You won't go from 180 to 100 just going from 28 nm to 22 nm. You also don't count the entire PCB board when calculating the TDP of a GPU...you count only the GPU.  The rest of the board is minimal anyway.

Scoobes, the HD 7870 is a 180 watt GPU.   Not going to happen.

As for downclocks to keep thermals in check.  May was well use a different chip instead of a bulky HD 7970 or HD 7870.    Why pay for silicon you don't need?

I was thinking something in between 7850-7870. From my understanding, the 7850 isn't a power hog but is still quite poweful. Maybe add in a couple of extra bits here and there depending on exactly what Sony and their devs are asking for. They may even cut out some of the features they don't need.

4096 x 2160 is simply the resolution that Northern Island GPU can render at. It doesn't mean the PS4 will offer support for gaming at that resolution. I suspect maybe video encoding, playback and images at 4k resolutions but not gaming.

Drop some clocks on the HD 7850 and you might have a suitable GPU.     Depends on whether they can get better performance from a smaller chip with higher clocks.   Depends on silicon yeilds offer good pricing on chip sizes.   Lots of factors come into play that tend to rule out bigger, faster, hotter chips.

I believe Wii U will be 2.5 times the X360
Nextbox will be 8 times the X360
PS4 will be 10 times the X360

Sony is d00med. Strongest console always loses. Pretty much always...

and i belive the next gen sales will go like this one:

1-Wii

2-Xbox

3-Ps
