I do indeed have a PS3

And the WiiU or X720 not having BC for their respective platforms would also be extremely annoying to me.

I see, I always had the impression you only owned one of the current gen consoles.

The PS4 having BC would ofc be very convenient for me, but I'm more interested in what games/experiences the next gen console offer than in the ability to play the games I already played. As it's my policy to only buy 1 console per gen I'm used to having no BC anyway (I'm not loyal to any maker).

You provide a good point, the new games and experiences on a new console are most important in a new generation.

And for me it's mainly about the convenience as I just don't have the space for all my consoles I my room. (I have bought all the consoles since the SNES from all manufacturers, and most still work :) )

My guess being that Sony goes full-tilt AMD while the other consoles once again stick to an IBM-ATI (AMD) combo?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL**Orbis**LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!111ONE!!11ONE!!!

All of a sudden, the Wheee-Youuuu doesn't sound so bad in comparison.

The only points I find credible in this rumor is the GPU specs (definitely a modified version of the 6000/7000 series) and the lack of backwards compatibility with PS3 games being that the system's architecture will be completely different from the Cell. I can't see Sony going all digital or locking games to one account somehow. What happens the next time PSN goes down? Then you can't play any games PERIOD??? And a 2013 release is going to be very tough for them... what software are they going to have ready by then?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

The most open console will be the winner of next gen.

I'm a fan of Nintendo and Sony, I think Orbis is a cool name, especially in conjunction with the Vita. That being said, I still think the name Wii and Wii U are dumb.

They wont do that for used games. What would happen if someone doesn't has internet connection??? or If your internet provider is fixing things, so your internet is not working??? They wont be able to play.

And that is why It is really a dumb thing to do; so I bet this is just another stupid rumor. Just like with the NextBox

Seriously dude, who the heck doesn't have internet in this day and age, or owns a console and doesn't have internet? Even grandmas have internet nowadays, not that the PS4 will be marketed to them anyway.

I do see the fact that your internet not working stopping you playing as indeed rather ridiculous, but it works that say in steam already and thats a pretty solid platform. They could maybe make it a one time activation thing as well. I'm sure people can go a few days without playing video games.

I personally don't care about the whole used games not being playable as I buy almost all my games new, but it would be sad to not be able to exchange games with your mates as well.

While I'm with you on Wii U (it sounds like an ambulance), the Wii name itself was ingenious in it's simplicity and as a worldwide recognized brand.

But the Sony Playstation Orbis... c'mon... really?  Somebody get Pachter on the horn... Sony are about to "Dreamcast" themselves lol.

It's crazy how people is talking PS4 and Sony is talking ten year life span.

PS2 release date - March 4, 2000

Ps3 release date - 10 November 2006

There was overlap with PS2 and PS3.
There will be overlap with PS3 and PS4.

I doubt they will go selling at loss again, specially with their situation right now.
