Thats what you get for reducing videogame sales content on your videogame sales website.

True statement. I rarely even visit the VGChartz site anymore, nor do I visit sales threads much.

You always visit here. Watchu talkin about?

Not Gamrconnect but VGChartz.com

Sweet graph!

I remember when we could make sweet graphs on this site...

Oh! I see now, still... you basically visit VGC.

OT: It might have something to do with our sales tools taken away from us? Like those amazing charts... gone.

This is so true. This site used to be about sales, hence the name. Now, it's about... huh. Nothing comes to mind. Data is gone, graphs are gone, tools are gone. And ultimately, interest is gone.

I know the plan is that this site is going to disappear and a new site will be made but to what purpose? Taking away what made the site popular usually is quite a bad idea...

Why are you being difficult? You understood my point. I don't visit the VGChartz sales site because the sales there are limited.

And what do you know about those amazing chartz? You weren't even here. LOL.

I miss the days when there was only VGChartz. No Gamrconnect, GamrTV, etc. All one website.

So when I joined the site peaked was finishing its peaking period? SO when I started to decline it was when I started to post regularly?

In all seriousness I see it like this. When the wii was doing awesome is when the site was doing its best. So when it didn't the site went down.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true. 2nd UPDATE: I have no Switch 2. I am now behind

Do Not Click here or else I will call on the eye of shining justice on you.

I miss making graphs too. In fact, right now I want to align the launches of Gears 3 and Halo Reach to compare them but now, I can't. :( I also remember graphs of games were given on their page so that even if they weren't in the top 200 I could see how much they sold. This site has progressively gotten worse which saddens me because this site used to have great features. Hopefully a competitor will come and knock this site on its butt or force them to add features instead of removing them so that they can compete.

I was lurking for at least a month before I signed up, they toke the charts down around a week before I joined. That's the main reason I signed up too, sadly it's all gone. :'(

The drop in overall forum popularity unsurprisingly coincides with the introduction of the worst version of VGC. It happened in the middle of 2010. VGC IM got removed. Wall posts were limited to about 250 characters with no ability to make paragraphs. PMs didn't allow you to use paragraphs, everything became a wall of text. The plus sign wouldn't show up in forum posts. A lot of stuff that was easy to do previously had to be learned to be done differently.

In other words, the means of communication between members were greatly reduced and/or limited which meant that a lot of members left the site. That's why the amount of time it took for 500k posts suddenly doubled.

As for the sales forum specifically, 2008 was the peak year because the generation was still fresh and a lot of possible scenarios could be discussed, but from 2009 onwards most trends were set in stone and a lot of historic sales analysisses had already been done. A decline was bound to happen eventually. If you look at 2011, the second half was lower than the first half, even though the holiday season should spur more discussion. But the seventh generation is old, so nobody really cares anymore. Almost everything that could have been said has been said.

Of course, VGC taking graphs and other stuff away from us didn't help, but looking at the number of threads, the sales forum would have remained stagnant at best.

Do you (or anybody else, for that matter) have any idea if the reasons for the changes actually panned out as expected?  If I remember correctly, the reason for starting removing graphs and such was to be able to sell them to companies interested in sales data. If I'm right about that, did it work out well for ioi? Are companies buying VGChartz Pro data, or did the entire concept fall apart?

Considering that VGChartz is apparently going to get more sales data again, it seems to be more likely to have been somewhat of a failure. If it was a giant success, giving more data out freely would only serve to lower the amount of VGChartz Pro data sold.

VGC Pro? lololol
