The gamecube function on the Wii is actually a Gamecube, which means it doesn't recognize anything that is Wii anymore once a Gamecube disc is inserted (so only GC controller and memorycards). The Wii is so to say 2 seperate consoles in one.

Official Nintendo Gamecube accesoiries are harder and harder to find and second hand games are getting more expensive. 3rd party GC controllers and memorycards are very easy to find though.

What Nintendo should do: Sell the Gamecube contoller (preferably wireless) in Wii design with 5 quality GameCube titles for say $50,-. This way the people that left Nintendo after SNES/N64 or those new to Nintendo can enjoy some of the brilliant games Gamecube had to offer for a decent price and Nintendo and 3rd party partyners can make some more profit on old games.

Ideas: Eternal Darkness, REmake, Pikmin, Metroid, Beyond Good & Evil, Windwaker, etc...

yes the info is correct the classic controller can play all vc games but it can not play gc games while the gc controller can play all the vc + gc games

Have nintendo released a new gamecube memory card to go with the new Wii controllers? IN australia there are hardly any second hand gamecube games left, and accessories are virtually non existant

I picked up all my stuff here when the stores were clearing out their gamecube stock (maybe a year before the Wii came out). Managed to get myself 3 genuine gamecube controllers for AU$32. Since then, except for the selection of about 15 2nd hand games I see at EBs, I haven't seen any gamecube stuff on sale here. Your only option would probably be eBay. Powerwave produces a gamecube controller which is passable (and it comes in Wii White as well :P) but I haven't seen any 3rd party memory cards for a long time.

I got a couple of large capacity knock offs on eBay which work perfectly well. You can slot in two next to the Gamecube controller slots.

i can't believe that guy actually said the classic controller is more comfortable than the gc controller. that is madness. all nintendo's main controllers are brilliantly designed to fit the hand better than anything else on the market at the time. but the classic controller is made with older controllers in mind, as in it is not as ergonomical as the more recent controllers.

and definitely get a wavebird controller. those things are amazing. easily the best standard controller (as in non-motion control) ever made. also the gc controller cords are really short so you have to sit pretty close to the system.

end of '08 predictions: wii - 43 million,  360 - 25 million, ps3 - 20 million

Games I've beat recently: Super Mario Galaxy, Knights of the Old Republic, Shadow of the Collossus

Proud owner of wii, gamecube, xbox, ps2, dreamcast, n64, snes, genesis, 3DO, nes, atari, intellivision, unisonic tournament 2000, and gameboy

In Australia I see alot of third party gc controls and such at jb hifi.

hopefully one day u can use classic controllers for gc games cause they ain´t sell gc controller anymore

they don't sell WAVEBIRDs anymore they still produce GCN controllers.

It's still very easy to pick up any Gamecube accessory you like online. Wavebirds are of course available on eBay and you can buy them new at Play Asia where they seem to go in and out of stock on a daily basis - http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-74vc-71-23-49-en-84-j-70-1xc.html

Ditto for ordinary Gamecube controllers which are currently in stock - http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-74vc-71-23-49-en-84-j-70-1ps.html
