Forums - General - If you wake up tomorrow 50 years in the past

Without preperation or looking up anything before, what kind of knowledge would you have right now that could help you, or help others? What would you do?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

I'd prove to them that I am, in fact, from the future by pointing out historical events before they occur. After that I'd get famous and recognized worldwide, giving me more money than anyone could dream of at the time.

After 32 years had passed I'd go to my mom and tell her that she has just given birth to the most awesome human being in existence.

but how would you know that your first few predictions won't influence history in a way that it will become unpredictable for you? Like you predict the death of jimi hendrix, and he hears about it and decides to get himself together and prove you wrong.

oh, and predicting the assassination of someone instead of trying to prevent it, really? :P

I would inform others of the Cuban Missile Crisis, which would be set to happen in October. I would tell them that they shouldn't get their knickers in a bunch and that Khrushchev would run like a little girl.

Well, since I'm kind of isolated here in Sweden I'd be considered a lunatic for predicting people's deaths and no one capable of changing their fate would hear me. Once they've occured though, they'll start listening to me!

And yes, by then I'd start preventing deaths and such things in order to maximize profit, simply because I am human >:D

I would try to go to my regular time period somehow. Cause being 51 in 2012 would suck.

I would gamble a TON. I clearly remember who wins many boxing matches, who wins many Olympic tournaments. NHL Stanley cup winners. Also, I know the market. I would be sure to invest TONS of money in the correct places at the right times. I would own most of Microsoft, Google, Apple, Facebook, and Youtube within 45 years.

In addition, since I know how to play music, there are so many songs from the last 40 years that I would be playing - people would think I was a song writing genius and shaping the way of the music industry.

Can you imagine if I came out and wrote/produced the song changes in the early 1970's? Or if while Paul Mccartney was still trying to figure out Helter Skelter if I hit the 60's with Blitzkrieg Bop? Followed up with my next single Smells Like Teen Spirit? Then I would move to LA and release my first rap track California Love as my third single. Then I would discover Celine Dion and present to her my latest masterpiece, My Heart Will Go On. Then when the 80's hit, I would be sure to make sure to be the one to discover Mariah Carey; who would be the commercial singer for my company Apple Microsoft Computer Entertainment.

So essentially, I would be the largest business mogul in history, and also the most successful recording artist/producer in history.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Oh man. The possibilities :D
