its already happened. the PS2 fell to $199 in 2002 that is now the equivalent of $254 |
The PS2 fell to $199 in 2002... and PS3? I'm wating that happen.
The PS3 today in Japan costs ~$300 (24,980 yen)... so the next price cut will put it in $250... and the next $199.

so you are ignoring what i said or you didnt understand it? |
And you ignoring what I'm saying too... the PS3 is expensive in Japan yet.

2015: 0.5-0.8m / LT ~13.0m

You just said that the PS3 is 25,000 yen in Japan. That's the price the Wii started at and it was said to be cheap. |
Launch price with PS3 releasing in the same month at 59,800 yen (yeah... the Wii price looks cheap)... PS3 already have five years in the market... 25,000 yen is heavly expensive for a 5 year old console.
PSVita was launched with the same price (25,000 yen)... it's a hell of expensive.
hmmmmmmmmm, theres food for thought.
Well it seems COD has become popular in Japan, so that could help. another monster hunter could help.
it really depends on the life of the console, games support and late adopters, if that applies to the Japanese market.
look at it like this. you can ruffly say every month PS3 sells about 50-80k in Japan, so PS3 sells arounds 160k every 2 months.
multiply that by 11 (1,760,000) , and that's likely what PS3 will sell by yr.'s end from Feb to Dec.. i didn't factor Jan. in because that seems to be the month Japan buys there systems, and i'm not to sure how that played out.
so if PS3 can get enough software support, when the 8th gen starts, and stays around 20k a wk, yr. looking at another 8 yr.'s not factoring in games that could help sell more hardware.
when you factor those games in, i'd say 6 yr's.

no I used my common sense. answer my question.... what do you expect PS3 weekly sales to be during 2018 in Japan? while you are at it predict the annual sales for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Just so i can see your rationale for this prediction. |
enough to be supported for that long is how much
Honestly, Dragon Quest X could theoretically push the Wii past 14 million. Let's say it does nothing to help Wii sales, and it dies in 2013. That's 13.5 million units sold. So the PS3 would have to sell 5.5 million units a year. Problem is, it only sold 1.5 million in 2011, and will likely continue to decline as the 8th generation begins. Still, it can make it, but it will be close.
| Turkish said: No one noticed? I predict around a healthy 9.5 million at the end of the year. Wii will likely settle around 13 million for good. When will the PS3 pass Wii in Japan? |
when Slimmer and cheaper PS3 model release, i believe it will pass Wii total sales in japan much faster, trust me... ^^

But by that logic, 20,000 yen would be very expensive for a six year old console, so the next price cut won't really help the PS3 either. |
PS3 needs a price cut in Japan... every business article I read about Japan and the people I talk there said the same thing... PS3 is expensive in Japan... that's a FACT not my opinion.
People in Japan still is waiting the PSThree (slimmer/cheaper/colder/etc).
