they arent correlated in any way.

PS3 will be lucky to move another 3-4 million in Japan this gen, no way it can catch the Wii imo.

Who says they're replacement purchases? If history repeats itself, the PS3 will sell long after PS4 comes out, even PSP is selling after Vita's launch. Thats whats always been with Sony consoles.

Yeap... I guess PS3 will outsell the Wii in Japan... the $199 price point will do that (2016???).

But seems like the PS3 have the chance to outsell the Wii even in WW because I expect PS3 selling over 100 million in 2016... the numbers will be close.
