GameDaily released their 2008 video game predicitons. My personal favorites were "Third parties ditch Wii" and "Wii Fit sells 400k at $180 price point."

Notice the sentence at the end of that prediction:
Despite gamers' newfound Wii addictions, top 10 software sales indicate that Nintendo's first party software offerings are the only games that make money on the Wii (surprise?!). Due to woeful third party sales, companies that once championed Wii development withdraw their support. This leads to plenty of Nintendo criticism, and not just from journalists. Even CEO's of major publishers bash the company for creating a "one trick pony" product. Not once do they blame their poor sales on their crap software.

Super Mario Galaxy II? wtf? Nintendo's gonna stick with one Mario game...astronomical sales does not equate to SEQUEL with Nintendo. It does equate with more Mario spinoffs I'm sure.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
some predictions seem unlikely, and some seem that they may come
Super Mario Heaven
Behold Angel Mario!!! lol
anyways... I think the stupidest prediction was the Wii would only sell 30m console by Jan 1, 09.

The last time 2 real mario games were on one console was 20 years ago, they are not interested in making another smg

Yeah, anyone who knows anything about Nintendo knows that they (tend to) make only one version of their main series in a generation; and even in the cases where they do make a second game, it typically is released over 2 years after the first one was released.
In other words, we may see another 3D Mario platformer but probably not until 2009 at the earliest.
In reading this, it almost appears as if the predictions are meant to be a joke (or at least an attempt at satire).
Nintendo hasn't done sequels on Mario since the NES (spin-offs yes, but not sequels) and Wii Fit retails for less than half the $180 price-point in Japan (that's the highest importer price I could find).
EA's bottom line will probably not let it buy much more right now.
No analyst expects the Zune or Ipod to be a serious handheld gaming device.
Microsoft is NOT going to put any more money into an HD-360 (unless it decides to pay all the studios to switch formats -- which it could afford to do).
Need I go on.

I don't think these predictions are meant to be a joke but they are making unusual ones so if they get lucky they can point out they were right.
I mean if they predict Wii will out sell ps3 this year that wouldn't be much of a prediction.
