Chaos Rings by SquareEnix is a really good jrpg if you're into jrpgs :D.
Also Final Fantasy 3 if you didn't play the DS version.
Eternal Lagacy by gameloft is also a very good jrpg imo.
Gangstar Rio, is a pretty good GTA clone if you like them type of games.
Platformer games i can't really tell you, as i don't really/ if ever, play them on my iphone.

As much as I'm not a fan of tablets/phones for gaming, I can't help but feel that they're probably a great platform for World of Goo (though the accuracy of the mouse might be better). How does it compare to other versions?

I'd recommend either 'Jetpack Joyride' or 'Unblock Me'...
(I also like platformers but I find there aint enough of that sort of thing available on iPad...at least not yet anyway! I might have to try out these castle defense games sometime)

I have the Ipad, PC version and Wii version og World of Goo.. and the iPad version is superior due to the controls..not only it is accurate (screensize is big enough), you can also use 2 fingers to place 2 goos at the same time, which improves the gameplay for me, cause I can adjust towers way faster if needed..
