God of War III is undeniably beautiful, I can't begin to imagine how much more beautiful the Gods at Sony Santa Monica can make their second game look. Now quit it with the futile arguing and just appreciate these beautiful games. |
Beautifal :D graphically kratos IMO is the best looking and detailed character on any game. I wouldn't say it destroys uncharted 3 though. They are both incredible games and undeniably the 2 best looking console games this gen.

That's true in the case of the Wii of course, but of the broader gaming market, especially the HD twins, not so much. It's easy point to a niche game in a niche RPG series on a console whose userbase is about 95% casual at this point and say that casuals define the market... but when you look at Sony and Microsoft, it sure as hell ain't the "casuals" that are driving sales and who got them to where they are.
Call of Duty is a much better comparison... it's a "core" series whose lates iteration released just a few months ago alone has sold over 26 million units across all platforms, beating out most of the mega-hit "casual" titles that have been out since the first year or two that the Wii was on the market. Gears of War 3, another "core" title exclusive to one system has sold over 5 million units WW in just 6 months, while MP 8 as you noted has sold just under 8 mil LTD to the casual audience, and it's been out on the market for 5 years now.
Just as Nintendo is learning now, you dismiss the "core" audience as small or insignificant at your own risk. There might be more casual than core gamers out there overall, but the casuals aren't the ones picking up copies of games or new hardware on day 1, nor do they buy at least 1-2 games a month... more like 1-2 games a year.

1. It's pretty common knowledge that betas are not representative of final products, they are often builds much older than even the release date of the beta, let alone the final product. When head2head even recognize this fact when comparing the Gears 3 and Uncharted 3 betas: " Again, we know these are just BETA demos, and we can definitely except to see many updates before these two get released. We are huge fans of both the Uncharted and Gears of War series, and each BETA has blown our expectations out of the water. Why cant you?
Also, which game, in the end, took the most technical achievement/best graphics awards? On page 8, Aldro has very handily posted a list of best graphics awards won by Uncharted 3, totalling 28 (I subtracted 3 as these 3 were 'best ps3 graphics awards', not multiplat) Now please, find me the awards Gears 3 won for best overall graphics, because I can't find them.
So what that tells me is that the final Uncharted 3 product looked better than the final Gears of War 3 product, unless you want to tell me that all the sites listed by Aldro somehow don't count. This is called evidence. Not just you or the crysis 2 guy assuring me that 'dude they totally look the same they didn't change the engine trust me', which is the length and breadth of the argument you've presented so far. If the two games looked comparable, I'd expect GeoW 3 to win an equal or at least nearly equal amount of awards. I can't find any. Although I'm sure there must be some out there, right?
2. I had this discussion earlier in the thread. Using Autovista in Forza 4 or Photomode in GT5, as much as I would like to, is useless. Might as well compare CGI cutscenes.

Yes, both GT5 and Forza 4 look awesome, I agree. Hard call between the two. I'm afraid I can't compare GT5 and Forza 4, as I do not own Forza 4 and I haven't seen it in real life, nor can I find any awards that the two games one to compare. I will say from that video it is very close though, even though I do not like the over-done bloom lighting in F4, but that's just personal preference, not an absolute judgement. That F4 screenshot however was disgusting lol, just an accident on your part I think, the game looks much better than that.
As to your comment about KZ2..I believe you thought Aldro said KZ2 was the 4th best looking game after U3>U2>KZ3, but he corrected you and said that Gears 3 was in fact the fourth best looking game. I'd definitely agree with him on that! So no problems here.

Yes I know many games since 2008 have passed Gears 2 graphically. Anything 2 years old or older is dated. Have you ever tried playing Uncharted 1 now? It's amazing that was PS3's best only 4 years ago.
That link I gave you is still valid, pre-release playable demos on both games and IGN said Gears 2 was better. It's not like games differ that much from the beta, and it's not link KZ2 would benefit more then Gears 2, the games released only months apart.

Since IGN being the "biggest" and clearly the only one you care about:
360 has 0 exclusives that recieved perfect score.
PS3 has 2 exclusives -> MGS4 & UC3 that recieved a perfect score.
^Completely other note, but still :). Meta also has LBP and UC2 higher than any other 360 exclusive game :).

I already said Uncharted 3 is the best (although I personally like Forza 4 the most) and in reality it really depends on what you're looking at. Skyrim and from what I've ween, The Witcher 2 do draw distances the best, Gears 3 has the best textures (especially details on guns), Uncharted has the best sand and water effects, Crysis has the best vegitation, etc, etc...
Done talking to you, this is a real waste of time, 5 years down the road, the best graphics debates will still go on, it's too close to give anything #2 after Uncharted 3.
I could be playing Mass Effect....

killzone was released a nearly a year after e3, ign impression were based off of pre-alpha footage, the article said nothing about any playable demo.
e3 impression of games are completely meaningless, especially when camparing a game a couple months away from release which is nearly finished (gears) and a game nearly a year away (killzone 2).
no, i dont accept the link because its meaningless, why would we base best graphics of unfinished unreleased versions of games. thats utterly idiotic.
