Capcom: The Next Gen Doesn't Start With Wii U

Posted Wed, 05 Sep 2012 | 13:30 BST by Damien McFerran

Although Nintendo will release the new game console Wii U and the market will be continue to be invigorated by the increase of DLC, time is required before the next generation console cycle begins in earnest.

Sometimes I really, really hate my industry.  This is nothing but an author that either doesn't understand what the hell "begins in earnest" means or is just looking for hits.

Morons, I tell you.

Agreed. How misleading...

^I always thought Paper Mario was in its own universe.

Mario is timeless. I have pretty much enjoyed every single one of his titles. Can't wait for Paper Mario: Sticker Star!

Also,it was my mistake for not fully reading the article. I apologize for getting people's hopes up for NSMB 2 on the NA eShop.

Good news is still that this title is moving up on the charts, just that now we don't have any numbers to go by. I'll still update it's progress, but now we don't know the numbers. :(

Holy Cow! Maybe we shouldn't be so harsh on Reggie?

Anonymous, former staffers say NCL has tough time trusting NoA

September 6th, 2012 Posted in General Nintendo, News, Posted by Valay

Based on comments rounded up by Kotaku, some anonymous Nintendo of America staffers feel that the company’s main Japanese division makes almost all decisions for NOA. Another comment states that NCL finds “difficulty trusting and allowing US subsidiary to be proactive.”

One former staffer wrote the following on May 23, 2011:

Extremely hierarchical. Decisions are made in Japan and NOA employees are expected to execute. Initiative is not encouraged.

And another one from January 20, 2011:

Cons – Parent headquarters micro-manages most marketing tactics. Spend most of your time explaining and justifying actions, instead of being innovative and agressive [sic] in the competitive video game industry. No work/life balance. Headquarters want to be cooperative but has difficulty trusting and allowing US subsidiary to be proactive.

Advice to Senior Management – Let the US subsidiary do their work and market in the style appropriate to our consumers. Move beyond finger pointing and finding scapegoats to making the best video games possible.

So should we start blaming Nintendo of Japan for the long wait for Xenoblade’s localization? Or were these comments just made by disgruntled employees? In the end, we probably won’t know for sure.

New 3DS title has sold faster than Mario 3D Land

Moar than 9000!!!!!1

New Super Mario Bros. 2 has sold a staggering 1,068,878 units in Japan since it was released on July 28th - five weeks ago.

The figure has been reported in the latest Enterbrain chart, which covers August 27th through September 2nd. The previous Mario title on the 3DS - Super Mario 3D Land - took eight weeks to reach the same total.

It's not known if digital download sales are included in this amount - if they aren't, then that figure could actually be much higher.

Out of all the comment round up by Kotaku from the site Glass door only two had better ratings then NOA, Riot Games and Valve. Don't know what they feed them at Valve they were the only one that received the highest satisfaction rate 5.0. I think Riot was 3.8 and NOA was 3.3. I think Zenga was rated pretty high also.

Picross-e is available guys!

Guaranteed satisfaction. And addiction. Get it!

Legendary designer seems very pleased by Nintendo's new console

Rayman creator Michel Ancel has taken part in an interview with French site GameBlog, where he talks about his experience with Nintendo's new Wii U console.

Ancel's comments, which have been translated by a NeoGAF forum member, give a tantalising glimpse into the power and potential of the machine.

Ancel states that it's hard to describe just what the system is about; he likens it to a new recipe which you have to taste to appreciate.

He also stresses that unlike the Wii, which many people criticised for catering for casual players too much, the Wii U is for the "core gamer", and that Nintendo has taken a different route into the next generation - while the console has "enormous memory", it does not offer the "graphical revolutions" one would usually associate with a next gen platform.

Oddly enough, Angry Birds Trilogy is ranked much higher on the 3DS, than the PS3 and 360 versions on Amazon. Could this be a surprise hit? I really hope not!
