There`s a user on Neogad called bgassassin that, according to one/two of his posts, knows something interesting about Nintendo`s E3 presentation.
This is his most recent post, when replying to another user who complained about what Nintendo showed:

"For me it was "You have the games! Why don't you show you have them?!"
Instead we got what we saw at E3 and those recent comments by Moffitt."

As some of you know, neogaf doesn`t seem to let anyone say stuff like this without backing it up!

he may have information about specific games, but his statements are true regardless. Obviously Nintendo has more exciting games to show that are earlier in production.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

I would so get that Star Fox game, love the series and the series needs more love from Nintendo, as long as they dont hand it out to another company (>.> Namco with Assault).

If starfox is coming back, that might be a given. Nintendo doesn't have a dedicated starfox team.

Speaking of Starfox, how would you sell a game like it nowadays?

I'm a fan of the series, but it's no secret that rail shooters that can be completed in a few hours generally don't seem to do very well unless they come with an extensive online component.. Emphasizing (offline) replayability is certainly not enough to guarantee a sales success.

Kid Icarus seems to be doing fine.  Granted, it does have online play, but the single-player has been very popular, too.

Plus, if it was anything like Star Fox 64, it would likely have great local play.

I thought so too.
In terms of launch and launch window i think the most obvious games like Madden, Fifa, BO 2 and MoH will show up. But there`s also a chance that this is a conscious move by Nintendo.
From some words by Reggie and a few things i read by other users here and on Neogaf, there`s a high chance that Nintendo could have shown games that are coming at least at launch but didn`t and could have shown games in the making, even if just by showing trailers. The question is why?

My guess is Nintendo wants to not only be focused on what they can deliver in time and to actually build momentum.
Like with 3DS, Nintendo showed a lot too soon and in the end the games came more spread out than Nintendo had planned and people got a bit frustrated.

do you see that kind of formula selling on a home console?
seems to me it wouldn't be as attractive a proposition to consumers. I hope I'm wrong of course.

Well, the closest recent example I can think of is Sin and Punishment: Star Successor for the Wii, which did about 350k.  That would be terrible for a Star Fox game, but SF is a much bigger series than S&P.  It's tough to say how this kind of game would sell on a console, since there haven't been that many lately, but if any franchise has the brand backing to pull it off, it's Star Fox.

Ya? Nah?

I had that exact same example in mind, as far as I know the game was bargain binned fairly quickly..
