I think gamers would disagree.

The only reason Sony makes so many exclusives is because they try to have as much variety as possible. And they do. They have the most diverse amount of exclusives for core gamers.

If gamers would disagree, then why was more Software sold on the 360 in 2011 than on the PS3, despite all those exclusives?

The 360 has more than enough variety really. 3rd parties provide more than enough, XBLA provides even more and now Kinect expands that even further.

OT:
Looks like I can mark Fable on my list of things I expect to be revealed!

The casual, misinformed market.

The 360 doens't have much variety. All those 3rd party games, also on PS3. Besides Kinect, there isn't much to differentiate the Xbox 360 from a PS3. 1st party exclusives are supposed to do that. This is where the Xbox 360 is lacking.

But hey the Xbox 360 keeps breaking records. If Microsoft keeps focusing on the casual, they don't need core exclusives.

So because they're on PS3, means it doesn't have variety?

MS will always have their core exclusives, they just look at them like business minded people ...

That casual, misinformed market is the market that made PSone and PS2 the juggernauts that they were. How was Sony's 1st party during those 2 generations, might I ask? Hell, how was Microsoft's?

What Sony 1st party games is there, that Microsoft should have... In your opinion. To give them more variety, what do Microsoft need?

Something post that Jackie Chan mind is full of fuck picture for me? Can't do it because I'm on my phone.

Glad to hear MS might release a XBLA Fable game.

Less glad to see that this thread turned into yet another PS3 vs X360 exclusives pissing contest, like we don't have enough other threads for that.

You can have both you know.....I suggest taking a look at the PS3 exclusives line-up for 2011. If Sony who is losing tons of money can put out so many high quality games, why can't Microsoft?

They can, they just don't see a need (and they'd be right) at this point there is no need to pump out the amount of exclusives Sony are (and Sony as much admitted themselves they make too many)

Yup, Yup...

Yay!!!

As it is, Microsoft's Xbox 360 is leading the PS3 in the Western markets by a comfortable margin, so the burden to differentiate itself lies with Sony, because the default console for third party offerings is the 360.

Since Sony really hasn't been able to make any headway in five long years (their gains can all be attributed to Japan), it's Sony's first party that is lacking. The fact that Microsoft needs to do so little to stay ahead shows the strength (or rather lack thereof) of Sony's exclusives.

Makes one think about the real damage Microsoft is able to do to the PS brand this gen and possibly the next one...

The problem is Microsoft has lost so much money developing first party. Its third party thats their cash cow outside of Halo. Sony has equal quality from first to third party, but it less commercially known. If it isn't known to anyone but the core, it doesn't matter. Microsoft is covered.

Outside of the cost of Rare how on earth do you come up with that?

See my first response to you.

Just say they are leading Sony in America. Kinect is what is creating the phenomenon and the initial launch price of the 360. Price and games appeal the most to the American consumer. Kinect is what is keeping Microsoft going. Sony's exclusives have strength, its just that their marketing sucks. Gamers like games with variety to gain new experiences and every one of those games are quality, but popular? Thats another story.

The way they are going this gen, next gen is quite predictable. Few core exclusives  to start out the gen, similar online experience to Sony. The ball will be in Sony's court next gen if they launch with Microsoft. There will be no Halo for launch, and there will be no Gears either unless Microsoft pays for a prequel or something. Signs are pointing to Ryse being pushed to next gen, but thats the only thing that is certain. Sony and Microsoft will be launching at around the same period of time and I am sure this time Sony will be competing with price.

By biggest year ever they mean the release of Halo 4 and....uhh..yea Halo 4. Oh dont forget some random kinect game. Waving your arms around since 2010.
