As it is, Microsoft's Xbox 360 is leading the PS3 in the Western markets by a comfortable margin, so the burden to differentiate itself lies with Sony, because the default console for third party offerings is the 360. Since Sony really hasn't been able to make any headway in five long years (their gains can all be attributed to Japan), it's Sony's first party that is lacking. The fact that Microsoft needs to do so little to stay ahead shows the strength (or rather lack thereof) of Sony's exclusives. |
Just say they are leading Sony in America. Kinect is what is creating the phenomenon and the initial launch price of the 360. Price and games appeal the most to the American consumer. Kinect is what is keeping Microsoft going. Sony's exclusives have strength, its just that their marketing sucks. Gamers like games with variety to gain new experiences and every one of those games are quality, but popular? Thats another story.
