The best Nintendo console is the Wii because it can play some NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube titles. I still have my Wii that I bought day one and it works fine. There are so many great titles on the system. Can't wait to see how the Wii U will do and love the fact that it can play Wii games.

Its true that the Wii is the best system cause it can play GC games and a lot of retro games also...............BUT THATS BECAUSE GC IS THE BEST SYSTEM EVER!!!!!......

This is complete crap, droughts??? GC at least had plenty of game releases, it was getting most of the games the competition was getting without the shovelware. Im with NightDragon to a certain extent. I wont go so far as to say my Wii collects dust, but it doesnt get anyhwhere near the play time as my PS2, hell the only game I play on it is GE and that came out in 2010 and their is a better version on the HDs.  "Their are games you just have to find them" where?? Tell me some of these games im missing, because I only bought two last year; Grand Slam Tennis and Zelda SS.  I used and played and bought way more games for GC, so what drought are you talking about?? I buy an average one game per month for PS3, thats 12 a year not even counting DL titles.  If the man doesnt care about the games then it does make the console worse for HIM. Its that simple

@metallicube  what I find funny about some of the Wii owner arguments, is in one instance they will cry about having too much shovelware and that the 3rd party games suck. But then in another they will say the WIi has a good library, it cant be both. 3rd party games make up 95% of any given consoles library, so if that 95% of games suck then the library cant be good, unless you actually like those WiiFit/Sports/mingame knockoffs which makes up the majority of the library, which is cool looking at sales a lot of people like them, but understatnd alot of people dont, which is why I look at the Wii and say; "yeah there aint shit to play" OR you thinki the Ninty games are so awesome that them make up for the really poor 3rd party offerings, and that is cool too. IMHO they dont, not eve closee, I dont believe that the WIi has the best first party library, SNES or NES hold that crown. For every Mario Galaxy I get a WiiSports/FIt/Music game I dont care about at all

Bullshit the only games the GC was getting was your usual Fifas and so on, throw away games that weren't worth getting a console for most of the games that generation were PS2 exclusive so don't give me that rubbish having a PS2 further negated these games, selective memories like I was saying Cube had the worst droughts by far, in the last 2 years of the Cubes life between RE4 and Twilight Princess name several worth while games that were released for a start. Like I said GC is not a bad console and has some gems but it's the weakest Nintendo console.

Could care less if you don't like what is on the Wii that's down to you and several others and quite frankly I don't care what your taste is it's just an attempt at moving goalposts, the first party is easily better then on GC. The third party isn't even as bad as you make it out to be and if you're going to bring other consoles into it then what was the point of the third party games on GC when I could get them on PS2 while I can't get TVC, MH3, RS2, LKS and such on other consoles.

this is the saddest thing I have read, selective memory?? goalposts?? I easily bought more games for GC than i did for Wii, ok I admit there were alot of multiplats but I bought them because they were better on GC. Cant say that for Wii can you, if they even get a game from the HD consoles 99% of the tiem its much worst.  Get off your high horse and/or nose candy, you think GC is the worst of Ninty consoles?? Cool I think the Wii is the worst. Dont bring your crap in like your opinino is right, save that garbage for IGN.

LMAO, i think the Wii actually had worst first party than GC. DD is better than Wii version. Brawl was a MASSIVE letdown. no actaul Mario sports games, besided soccer and that crap that SE made.  Wiiwhatever are overrated IMHO. no SF no Fzero. The only thing that did improve was 2d Mario, Zelda. IMHO

3rd party wasnt that bad?? Yeah it was, when your getting horrid versions of CODs, NFSs, Maddens etc. thats pretty bad, thats not even counting the many games it never received. Assassin's Creed, GTA, Street Fighter, Tekken, Batman, Fallout, Skyrim, Mass Effect. Where are they ??

And LOL that you dont care, please, if you really didnt care you wouldnt have replied and those games you mentioned arent triple A or even double, except maybe MH

Nintendo Sixty FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUR! The SNES is the better console... but I had more fun with the 64. It had 4 controller ports for christ sake! I also think it was the best generation for 3D platformers.

A simple question with a simple answer, SNES.

NES

The reason: 3 2D Mario games plus 6 classic Megaman games.

Super Nintendo.

But the sad thing about this is if Ninty hadn't lose their third party support the Snes would have pale in comparison to the up-coming consoles, especially the N64. It would have just gotten better and better.
Imagine Marvel vs Capcom( or all capcom fighters for that matter) on the N64 with the 6 face button layout and you could have actually chose 2 characters normally and even 4-player tag mode.
Ah well, maybe in some alternate dimension it happened this way.

Because: games.

I would say the Wii because my favorite games of all time are on it. If I were on a nostalgia trip though I would probably debate on the 64 or GC.

What I have learned from this thread is that a lot of the games considered shovelware on the Wii would have been considered classics on the GameCube by certain people.

Fact is:
• Windwaker and Twilight Princess were the worst Zelda Games in 4 generations of Nintendo home consoles
• Mario Sunshine was the worst main series Mario game
• Double Dash was the worst Mario Kart game overall
• Kirby: air ride was the worst Kirby game
• Donkey Kong Bogo Blast was the worst DK game (I never played it, but it is very obvious)
• And GameCube didn't get any top third party franchises outside of Resident Evil: No final fantasy (Crystal Chronicles doesn't count, that game was abysmal), no Metal Gear Solid, no Dragon Quest, no Monster Hunter, and most importantly - no Grand Theft Auto.

When the GameCube did get a half decent third party title (usually sports titles), it was a feature slashed version. Even the best third party games on the system (RE4) is the worst version of the game - and you were forced to use the terrible Gamecube controller).

All in all, Gamecube was more or less Playstation 2 junior - because Nintendo games obviously weren't pulling the console this gen - it was shaped like a big purple lunchbox - and the fanbase got rabidly excited when a game with blood or explosions came out for it just based on the fact that it had blood and explosions, even when it was a bad game like Eternal Darkness (reminded me of being 9 or 10 and playing Mortal Kombat).
