The greatest Nintendo home console of all time?

NES 42 10.53%

SNES 168 42.11%

Nintendo 64 83 20.80%

Gamecube 40 10.03%

Wii 62 15.54%

That Pong console they made in the 70's 4 1.00%

Total:399

For me it's a tie between SNES and N64, with NES in a close third.  Then GCN fourth, Wii dead least.

N64 had a handful of incredible games, but SNES had a lot of excellent games.  So it's difficult.  If you're into JRPG's over action/platformers, then SNES is definitely #1.

first at milkyjoe, honestly i could care less that you turned your back on Ninty, thats between you and them. Has no bearing on the GC which I think has a better library than Wii, that simple.

Wrydness, you wrote alot but said nothing, there is no selective memory. I bought Two games last year for WIi, TWO, and one of them was released in 2008. That IS a drought. Im buying TWO games for WIi and they both have been released in other countries for months to years. THAT is a drought, so I just covered Wii's last two years right there, now if there are more games coming this year that makes it worth it, let me know, matter of fact  dont, I think your taste in games sucks.

Amd FYI i never said that GC was a good console on its own, for me its a great companion to PS2, Wii sucks on its own too, seeing as there is not SF, TEkken, Soul Calibur, etc. Games I actually would want to play. Its an even worst companion than GC, at least the GC multiplats ran better. Honestly it sounds like you are a sheep and you cant think for yourself; "i like this console because its the most popular and safe to like, tee hee" please. Grow up, I like DD better than WIi, Brawl had HORRIBLE online which is a no no for a fighter released this gen, LOL at highest rated score, funny how people use that argument when it suits them. Grow up

Looks who's talking about saying nothing all I've seen from you is backtracking and you hiding behind the opinion card, you bought two games last year well guess what 2 games is the total GC had in it's final two years, even in 2011 I bought 3 games released in EU in Zelda,, Xenoblade and Kirby and this year I've bought TLS and Rhythm Heaven with Project Zero 2 and Pandora still to come that's 6 games (3 times more then the GC had). Just because you don't want to buy them doesn't discount them which is why I call BS on your whole stuck up stance, I didn't base my choices on opinion I based it on straight up comparisons and GC comes out behind.

It's even funnier that you're already trying to downplay scores another attempt at moving goalposts, guess what kiddo it's not about being a companion console or what not I'm looking at library how each console stands on it's own and whether it hurts your family honour that the GC is the weakest in that regards is too bad. So you think my taste in games sucks supposidley and want to ignore review scores and you're trying to tell other people to grow up yet you tell someone you don't care what they did during the GC because it goes againsts what you like after going on about your opinion sorry it's time for you to look in the mirror on that one and the GC would still fall short if we ignored reviews, notice how you backtrack and don't want to compare libraries then claim people are sheep because they don't share your view on your beloved GC as it's your only path in trying to gain ground.

It's all well and good saying Wii didn't get what ever but guess what GC didn't get much either it's situation was far worse so it's time for you to get off your high horse, anyone complaining of droughts on the Wii then brings up GC is quite frankly having a laugh.

i bought GC games up to the last year of the console, about four to be exact. im STILL buying Cube games, thats more than I can say for my Wii, if you have games you can buy on your Wii that you love, good for you, for me there aint much worth a damn coming out.  how about you give me list of games that came out the lst two year on GC instead of posting nonsense.  You bought 3 games for Wii last year?? WOW that is a lot!

im telling you to growup becasue you cant accept that someone likes GC more than Wii and you keep coming with facts that this system had droughts, Even if GC had droughts the gaems that it was getting is better than what Wii is getting

Come off your "I'm a victim" bullshit, for one I didn't post against anyone who liked the cube I posted against a flawed statement someone made about long time gamers you're the one who came in and turned it into a GC vs Wii thing disagreeing against the view that another console has a better library before backtracking with your tail between your legs so take your own advise on growing up as like Piers Morgan you've dug yourself in a hole by not being quiet then throwing your toys out the pram when things don't go your way, ironic that you are the one making the accusation of not accepting a view on libraries when that was never in the original post and you disagreeing vehemently is the sole reason you are here. Secondly could care less about what games you think are better because as people go it can go either way and many would count the GC out which is why I just looked at games considered good, you're still buying GC games good for you but guess what sonny jim it doesn't mean the library is better in a comparison I'm buying new releases on the Wii something GC only had two of in the last two years.

What has the first two years got to do with an overall library again you're just ranting for the sake of it now because it still won't change the point that the GC has a weaker library.

The NES for me. It single handedly revitalized home gaming after the crash of '83-'84, it set standards with classics like Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda, and it had so many great games. Pretty much everything on the market at the time was on the NES, save for 1st party Sega games, and even some of them, such as Shinobi and Afterburner, came to NES via Tengen... that's how popular the NES was in its day.

The SNES is easily second, followed by the Gamecube (loved it, even though it has by far the worst Mario game).

I love the N64 and Wii as well, but these were the only two generations where I felt it absolutely necessary to own another system, as there were so many great games on the market that didn't come to these two. Some would say the same for the GC, however there weren't very many games I cared about that gen that weren't on GC.

Now if you count everything the Wii has as far as backwards compatibility (all GC games), ports (Res 4 and Prime Trilogy) and Virtual Console in addition to its own library then obviously it has a major advantage.

victim?? Never. You wrote a whole paragraph and you are still crying about nothing.  I didnt dig myself into anything, I said GC had a better library than WIi does ans im still saying it and will continue to do so.  when did I say anything about the first two years??  I dont care if many people would count the GC library out, so im just supposed to go with them because they might be the majority?? F**k out of here. I have a mind of my own. Again I think the GC library is better than the WII one, simple as that. If you dont think so, thats fine. FYI I never tried to prove otherwise, you were the one talking about bringing up lists and shit.

N64 closely followed by the SNES. Strangely the greatest weakness of the N64 was the greatest strength of the SNES - RPGs.

SNES, naturally.
